This family-owned gem has become a staple in Johnstown. Mastodons makes eating ice cream a fun experience for the whole family. Enjoy your scoops on a cone, in a cotton candy burrito, ice cream hot cocoa, or a dirty soda! They have delicious, rotating flavors that aren’t your typical scoop shop variety —and you can’t go wrong with any of them! My personal favorite is Michigan Pot Hole! Sorbets, sugar free, and dairy free options included. You will adore the owners. They provide friendly service and always remember returning customers.

Amazing ice cream and even better people. The choice in flavors are incredible and everything has always tasted super fresh, but what really makes this place special is the people behind the counter. Matt and Joanna are genuinely kind and welcoming. You can tell they truly care about each of their customers and Johnstown as a whole!

Mastadons Ice Cream has been such a wonderful addition to Main Street and to the Johnstown community as a whole. Since opening this past year, they’ve created more than just a place to grab dessert. They’ve built a fun, welcoming spot that families genuinely look forward to visiting.
My daughter absolutely loves going there, and it’s become one of our favorite little outings. The atmosphere is always friendly, the shop is adorable, and you can tell there’s so much heart behind everything they do.
The owner is amazing, and her family is just as incredible. They’re always coming up with new ideas, special events, and creative ways to connect with the community, which makes supporting them even more meaningful.
And of course, the ice cream is outstanding. So many delicious options, and every single one we’ve tried has been a hit.
Johnstown is lucky to have Mastadons. Highly recommend stopping in. Just be prepared to want to come back again and again! ❤️ ❤️

We love Mastodons ice cream! The beautiful family who owns the shop is amazing and have really integrated themselves into our small community with their kind nature and fun personalities! Mastodon’s Ice Cream is dangerous… because you go in for “just one scoop” and leave emotionally attached to five flavors.
The owners are absolute gems — always excited, always sampling new creations, and somehow convincing me I need to try everything. Their cookies & cream has my heart, but “Rush Hour Coffee,” “Raspberry Rendezvous,” “Eskimo Kiss Coconut,” and “Milky Way” are all fighting for second place. And the ice cream hot chocolate?? Who gave them the right to make something that creative and that good?!
The shop is cute, cozy, and has main-character energy. Their promos are so fun too — still sad I missed the Advent calendar, but you better believe I secured my passport for the ice cream flights.
10/10 would risk brain freeze again.

Best ice cream shop I have been to by far. Really amazing family who owns this shop(the sweetest people ever), amazing decorations, and most of all amazing ice cream. They always give you a warm greeting when you walk in and there are so many flavors/types of ice cream to get. The prices are great as well!
