This adorable dessert shop has quickly become one of Orange County’s favorite hidden gems, and for good reason too. Tucked away in downtown Fullerton, Sunny Tea Studio is a cozy cafe that instantly transports you to lo-fi vibes in Japan.
The menu has so much to offer, especially for my mochi lovers. We got their bestselling drink called the mochi mango that has actual stretchy mochi in it—you have to try this!
But their mochi box, oh my goodness, comes dusted with ceremonial grade matcha, cheese mousse, and cocoa pebbles that gives it that ideal balance of chewy and crunchy.
And the picture-perfect strawberry shaved ice is definitely a must and great for sharing.

A nice place to get together with friends because of the location and their welcoming atmosphere.
Drinks are kind of plain compared to some shops I usually go, such as 3 cats, Bengong, and Wishilan. Hope they could improve their food quality and taste to make this place more sustainable.

I’ve been here twice and will continue to go. I tried the strawberry matcha with mochi and matcha cloud drink and both were great. The interior is really nice too, super relaxing atmosphere with piano music playing and cute anime-related decorations. Great for getting work done or just chilling!

I actually enjoyed three different drinks here recently. I’m goofing around with some video editing software and I needed some fodder. Every one of these drinks was fantastic and I would order each of them again. They have the kiosks that you can order from which I’m a huge fan of and they had non-dairy options which, again, huge fan. My favorite was the Thai Black Tea Latte w/ Oat Milk, Boba, & No Sugar (You have options here so this is my highly customized preference) but the Matcha Strawberry – Ceremonial Japan (I order matcha all over the place and not all matcha is created equal and this matcha was spot on ✅ )and the Passionfruit Jasmine Tea we’re also too good not to come back for. I didn’t try the shaved ice( aka bingsu/bàobīng/빙수/刨冰) but they do have it on the menu and I’ll be back for that as well.
It’s worth mentioning that the staff here is always as sweet as the treats.
This cozy little spot is also tucked in right next to the FedEx Print and Ship center so if I’m lining all my ducks up in a row I can finish some work here, print and ship it next door, and then meander on over to the farmers market on a Thursday afternoon. I probably should have gatekept that agenda little harder but it’s too good not to share.

The drinks are delicious. The problem is that the scents they use are very overbearing. Although I have sensory sensitivities, I typically can handle low to moderate amounts of perfumes. However, he smell is so overbearing that I became nauseous, and by the time I placed my order, I had to step outside to avoid fainting. Even the others with me, who don’t have sensory issues, said the smell is so strong that it lingered in their noses and irritated their nostrils. We have visited multiple times over several months and just tolerated it because the drinks are great and the boba is good. But it seemed even stronger today and it almost made me sick. It smells like several bottles of perfume were smashed or a ton of airfreshners were used at the same time. It probably won’t affect most of the population, but wanted to make sure many people with any level of sensory sensitivities are aware so they can order ahead or have someone order for them.

Customer service is very friendly and speedy.
The atmosphere is very relaxing with an amazing view of Harbor Blvd.
Lots of Manga books, game boards and plenty of space to chill, drink bubble tea and hangout after or before classes.
