We went traditional.
When seated we orderwd our deinks and were served a basket of nachos and salsa. We then started with their clam chowder. Thick and filled with chunks of fish and seafood, this is by far, the best New England clam chowder outside of Boston. With 3 different sizes, order the bowl. If you order the cup, you will want more. If you like clam chowder, this is an absolute MUST.
I had the fried shrimp and sweet potato fries. The 6 large shrimp were perfectly battered. Not greasy and served piping hot. The side of sweet potato fries were thin and crispy and cooked to perfection.
My husband had the tuna and fruit salsa with rice. He enjoyed it very much except, he said, the tuna was a bit over done because he had asked for it rare and the marinate was a bit too saltyfor his liking. But he did clean his plate.
What I really liked about this place was that the owner was there and welcomed each guest and also came over while we were eating to make sure everything was OK. Outstanding. Bravo.
Our waiter was perfectly bilingual, which made ordering easy.
Will we go back? Absolutely
And so we did so I’m adding two different dishes.
My husband had the fish burger that was accompanied by wedge fries. He gave me a taste and what can I say? It was huge, juicy and full of shrimp. Topped with lettuce and tomato and a great special sauce.
I had the Fried shrimp plate with rice and a delicious mango fruit salad. Wow. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and there were so many i could hardly finish.
Before leaving Mazatlan I need to go back.
The food was great. I had a scrumptious poor boy made with shrimp, sauce, avocado, cilantro and tomatoes, accompanied by amazing wedge fries. Hubby had the Mahi Mahi fish and chips (wedge fries), which were delish!
Great spot!
My wife & I had a couple of friends invited for dinner.
Us two spent about $4000,-pesos incl tips for the night on our bill.
We paid everything so it had to be the best.
Wine & dine was expensive.
We went there again the other day with a other couple.
We all ordered “fish & chips”. We all looked at each others while we immediately notice it was chicken instead of fish. We’ll never come here again.
Clam chowder 11/10 . The best I’ve had . Very creamy and almost a mix of Manhattan and New England. Lots of herbs .
Shrimp basket- 10/10 Nice fresh shrimp lightly battered and not greasy . Generous portion with delicious sweet potato fries .
Seared Tuna – 9/10 Nice portion , good plating . Tuna fresh . Loses a point as I requested rare and it wasn’t and the sauce was a little too salty for my taste.
In conclusion – going back to try other dishes . Recommended for people in the golden zone who like good fish and seafood reasonably priced .
Unfortunately, several people in our group became very sick later that night. My friend and I experienced food poisoning, and other family members felt unwell as well. The only shared meal we had beforehand was dinner here, where we ordered the clam chowder and fish and chips.
While we can’t say with absolute certainty what caused it, the timing and the fact that multiple people became sick made the experience very concerning. It was especially difficult while traveling.
We truly appreciated the friendliness of the staff, but we hope the restaurant takes food safety seriously to ensure this doesn’t happen to other guests.
Meal type: …
Claim chowder was a little rich for us, but most like it rich and creamy.
