n July 2004 Will Pieratt and Kevin Heathcoat took a huge leap of faith and opened Bourbon n’ Toulouse by maxing out seven credit cards and simply hoping things worked out for the best. The business plan was simple: cook some damn good food, give back to the community that help keep their lights on and have as much fun as the law allows! Fifteen years later these guys are still extremely passionate about what they do and they haven’t grown up a bit, just ask their wives! Always cooking and laughing, these guys are serious about having fun. Stop in and sample the wide array of tasty Cajun and Creole dishes, grab a beer from the ever changing selection and drift away to their own little version of The French Quarter.

Portion sizes are MASSIVE. Variety of options and flavors for everyone. The lemon pepper étouffée and gumbo were delicious!!! Would come back next time.
Vegan black beans: 11/10
Thai peanut: 8/10
Possibly the best vegan bean dish i’ve ever had. Definitely had me asking “are we sure?”
The process is simple—you walk up to the counter to order, then they call your name when your food is ready. The service was quick and friendly, and we really appreciated the variety on the menu. They offer several gluten-free, dairy-free, and even vegan options, which makes it a great spot for all kinds of diets.
The amount of food for the price was incredible—my full entrée was only $9 and the 1/2 & 1/2 was just $11. So affordable for such an incredibly flavorful and filling meal. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the portions were generous.
This is the kind of comfort food that makes you want to come back. We’ll definitely be stopping again the next time we’re passing through!
Food may not ‘look’ the most appetizing, but it smells and tastes amazing.
The atmosphere is pretty cheap and simple, but it gives a more authentic mom and pop shop type feel.
Service was great and they made sure to accommodate my gluten allergy and celiac disease. More on that, there are lots of allergy and diet friendly foods.
There isn’t a lot of blaring zydeco music which I like and the tables were semi clean which I don’t. It was early so not many people there but I could see that to go orders were coming in. All in all, I would say that it is a nice local place that has really good Cajun food.
Give it a try!
Previous Post: Bourbon N Toulouse is great. The food is unlike anything else in Lexington and it is super flavorful and delicious. I have liked everything I have tried and love the bread. The service is always friendly and even if there is a line you know you won’t have to wait long for your food. For the price the serving size is great.
