We don’t order out alot, but when we do it would be great if we could get good food from the place we chose to order from. We order special fried rice and Mongolian beef. The Mongolian beef had nothing but onions in it. Literally! Or sideboard fried rice is always my go to. It is usually safe to say it will be good. Not last night. My rice was mooshy not nice and fried. The Mongolian beef was a joke. We called and I was told by the man on the phone that the chef/ owner said he cooked everything right and the only thing they would do for us is remake the Mongolian beef. Basically telling me I was wrong about the rest of our order. At this point we were done eating and we’re not interested in there food anymore. We will never order from them again, We work hard for our money and we’re not wasting it on businesses like this.

We have not ordered from Hunan Express in over a year. We recently ordered on a Sunday afternoon when it was not busy. We called our order in & picked it up. It was a very simple order. We ordered two lunch specials & each added hot & sour soup. My husband ordered sweet & sour chicken & I ordered fried cashew chicken (not vegetable). When we got home, we opened our order. My husband received his order correctly. My order was the vegetable cashew chicken which is not what I ordered. I called the restaurant to inform that I did not get what I ordered. The gentleman who answered said that he needed to talk to the chef. He came back to the telephone & said that the chef knew this & that they did not have the fried cashew chicken, so he gave me the vegetable cashew chicken instead. When I was on the telephone ordering, he did not tell me that they did not have the fried version nor was I informed that when I picked it up. They made the substitution on their own. Not only was it vegetable cashew chicken, but it was primarily celery. I informed him that I should have been told that they did not have my entree & given the opportunity to change my order. Instead I came home with an entree that was not even close to what I ordered. I asked him how they were going to make it right. I was told that I could come back & get a different entree. I informed him that I did not want to come back for a different entree since my husband was already eating his. I asked for a refund & was told that I needed to come back to the restaurant to receive it. So I got back in the car & went to the restaurant to get my refund which was an inconvenience since I paid by credit card & they could have voided the transaction. When I got there, I told him that it was an inconvenience & requested a refund for both of our entrees. He had to call the owner who recently bought the restaurant to ask him if he could refund the entire order due to their actions & inconvenience. The owner would only refund my order. Also the hot & sour soup did not taste like the hot & sour soup that I have gotten at other restaurants. It was disgusting. Needless to say we will not be returning to this restaurant in the future. Their poor decision to substitute my entree along with their poor customer service has brought me to this decision. Buyer beware!!

10/16/2025 2:00pm Tried to eat their sesame chicken lunch special. It was barley edible, tuff chicken, no sesame seeds, was served bland white rice when I asked for fried rice. The only part of the meal that was good was the crab rangoon. I live 3 min walk away from this restaurant and it use to be one of my favorites. Unfortunately I will not be coming back and I will tell my friends and family the same.

My fiance and i walked to Hunan to get dinner, and i ordered plain lo mein and he ordered pork fried rice. we get our food, walk back, and i open my box it’s covered in vegetables, no biggie. we go back and i tell him it’s not what i ordered and he informed that plain lo mein has always come with vegetables(we’ve lived across from this restaurant for several months and have ordered on numerous occasions with no issues) . and i said no did the menu change or something im confused and then he informed me that management changed and the owners did too. so they remade my food no big deal, i get home and i open the box and it smells like cigarettes, so bad that my fiance even said something, and i took a bite and it just tasted and smelled like someone was smoking a cigarette while making and handling my food. i called back up to let them know and he offered to remake it again but i said no, that smoking while cooking someone’s food is absolutely unacceptable and all he said was “i’ll let him know.” will definitely not be back here EVER again, what a filthy establishment. i would advise yall do the same.

We haven’t eaten at this restaurant in a few years because of an incident with cleanliness. Tonight we decided to give it another try after reading somewhere that there were new owners. It was not a great start because they stopped serving lo mein. Kind of odd for a Chinese place. After placing the order, it told us our food would be ready in 10-15 minutes. We waited an hour and our food wasn’t even that hot. Eggrolls were mushy. Eggdrop soup tasted like it was made with old dirty water. Fried rice was just ok. One meal smelled so bad we immediately threw it in the trash outside to avoid the odor. 2 types of fried chicken were very dry. Everything fried had the same off taste to it. This restaurant will now be taken off of our list of options again. I wouldn’t recommend this as an option. For anyone.

Not all Hunan Express are treated the same but this one did it different than almost every other chinese restaurant i have eaten at. Sweet and Sour chicken came with a bland sauce. Not the typical red sauce. The chicken and veggies were good. Egg drop soup also bland and slime like. Some might like their chinese this was but definitely different.

I used to really like this place, but ever since they changed owners, the quality has gone downhill fast. They close randomly all the time, and the food is nowhere near what it used to be. The hot and sour soup tasted like it was from the day before, the egg rolls were still cold in the middle, and the chicken was so tough it was almost inedible. They don’t even serve my favorite lo mein anymore.
Even when I order during non-busy hours, it takes over 40 minutes just to get my food. Overall, I’m extremely disappointed and won’t be coming back.

The only item that was worth eating was white rice. Hot & Sour Soup was not identifiable as hot & sour. The meals had no flavor, and they were suppose to be hot & spicy. Then we were missing egg roll & soup noodles. Very disappointing.

My wife was feeling sick, so we ordered food from here including egg drop soup, which helps her feel better.
They were 20 minutes late in making the food, during which they left the egg drop soup on the counter. It was not warm when they gave the food to me, so I asked for a different soup, as it was the main reason we liked ordering here. They wouldn’t replace it.
Support a different business that cares.

First time ever ordering chicken and broccoli and only received a box of broccoli. Not a single piece of chicken. On top of that, they didn’t even get our order right. For what we did receive, it was just ok. Last time going here.
