This is why I stopped coming here. It seems like they’ve just given up when it comes to making food. The bacon is burnt, and the pancakes are too. For the price they’re charging, they should at least try a little harder not to burn the food. It feels like they’re more focused on getting the food out fast so they can get back to using their phones. Maybe try cleaning the griddle or lowering the heat so the pancakes and bacon don’t burn. I think I’ll just stick to Hy-Vee for breakfast.

I ordered the Petite Breakfast with an M&M pancake and my husband had an omelette. Both were very good and cooked well. It took about 40 minutes to get our food, which felt long for a breakfast visit. The restaurant has an old diner feel with black and white celebrity photos on the walls, but the smell of cigarettes made me feel nauseous and took away from the experience. The food was worth it, but the service speed and smell were disappointing.

Food was way over cooked! Bacon was burnt. Scrambled eggs were whale recooked. My blueberry pancakes were overcooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside. The other two breakfast they said the pancakes were just awful. There was butter on the table and packets and all of the packets were opened or sticky. Bill came to $33.80.
Service wasn’t much better.
No kid menu.
Thought for a mom and pop shop, this would be good. I would never go back or recommend this to anyone.!

The food and the portions are amazing. I called in for a order and when I got there to pick it up not one of the staff members acknowledged me at all. I stood in the same spot and counted 4 members of the staff and I made eye contact with them all and Not 1 person spoke. When my husband and I had breakfast there last Sunday our server was great. Not sure what the problem was today but I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon

OMG love this place!! And I am not being biased my friend is Roman about 15 years ago he was talking of opening this up. I have not been in the area where the café is located in a long time, he opened 9years ago and this place is amazing. I will keep coming back now that I know it is here. Sorry it took so long Roman for me to finally get there. People already know this place is great, keep it going!! Proud of me friend.
And the chicken fried steak fabulous (fingers to my lips and kiss away) the best

Susan was a phenomenal waitress. She works hard and always had a smile. She was so friendly to the child that was with us and paid attention to see to it that she was happy, brought her a princess coloring book to use. So kind. The food is great. What you’d hope to expect from a Midwest, local cafe. The portions were large. The flavors were tasty. Best crispy hash browns. Service wasn’t only friendly but fast too. We will visit again when we are in the area. Thanks Roman for making us a great meal!

Food is fantastic!! The everything omelette was flavorful and not too filling!! The blueberry pancakes are amazing…not too cakey! The bacon was nice and thick and great tasting!! The sausage with the big Johnson meal was very flavorful and juicy!! Great coffee and awesome service!! I’d definitely go back!!

Hands down best breakfast I’ve had in Minneapolis or surrounding areas. I ordered the big Johnson, I’m usually not a big hash brown guy but they were fantastic and the sausage was on point. My girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed her omelette and we both split the pancakes and were fighting each other off for the last bite hahaha. Will surely be back again soon, loved all the decor on the walls and the old school feel.

Have been twice so far since recently moving. Originally came after looking for good, hearty breakfast and this hit the spot. The service is always welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere is small and very home-y, in a good way. You feel like you’re eating in someone’s kitchen or living room rather than a restaurant. This is the home of the “Big Johnson” and it doesn’t disappoint. Looking forward to coming back for more good breakfast. Just be aware, they close rather early for a breakfast spot that’s open on a weekend, they close at 1230PM.

**UPDATE***
Coming now fairly regularly on the weekends and always receive fast and friendly service. Their meats and pancakes are great breakfast accouterments!
