The rules were simple.. Be in line beginning at 4p and still be in line at 5p, and you would receive a complimentary original calzone and a pepperoni pizza..
After being in line for about an hour, I entered the store, filled out a contact form, and exited with my complimentary goodies and a menu..
Having never tried a Simple Simon’s anywhere, my quest was a simple one.. Sample a couple of their menu offerings for the best price possible..
My wife and I really enjoyed the calzone.. It was stuffed full of sausage, pepperoni, and cheese, and had a decent portion of sauce.. It was quite flavorful and we would likely order it again in the future..
The pepperoni pizza was amply topped and on their pizziera crust (not thin, not thick).. Again, the toppings were flavorful, the pizza was perfectly cooked, and the crust was pretty good..
The local owners of this location appeared to have more than adequate staffing to meet the demand and everyone I encountered was friendly and welcoming..
We are looking forward to sampling other menu offerings in the future.. I for one am looking forward to trying their specialty pepperoni (cup & curl, standard, and deli-sized) pizza and a couple of their sandwich offerings soon..
An unexpected but delightful bonus of the event was the opportunity to chat with a local retail business manager and one of our long-term district teachers while queued up waiting our turn to enter..
