Breakfast is good every time I come here. And it’s still one of the only places in town that knows how to “crisp” hash browns. If you ask for crispy, they come crispy.

So go ahead and order the stuffed hash browns, toss on a side of gravy, keep the jalapeños inside, and make sure you order then crispy. It does NOT disappoint.

This is my fiancée and I’s date night spot!! We were a little nervous at first because we didn’t know what to expect crowd wise, but we soon seen it was very diverse! Various genres of music as well and they do karaoke. You can tell this a common spot for locals around the area and don’t get me started on the mushroom burger!! Great bar food for sure would recommend stopping by and trying some of Jen’s drinks!

If you’re looking for a flashy, high-end bistro, keep driving. But if you want a solid, down-to-earth breakfast that actually hits the spot, you need to check out The Firestarter Bar in Kent.

I have been here a few times and I’m honestly impressed by the quality of the food. Here’s the breakdown of the meal:

The Food

Chicken Fried Steak: This wasn’t one of those frozen patties that’s all breading. It was nice and thick with just the right amount of crunch.

Sausage Gravy: The gravy can make or break this dish, and they nailed it. It was thick, savory, and had tons of flavor.

Stuffed Hash Browns: I upgraded from regular hash browns to the stuffed version with bacon, and it was the best decision of the day. They were perfectly fried and crispy—exactly how hash browns should be.

Over Easy Eggs: It’s surprisingly hard to find a place that doesn’t overcook these lately, but mine came out exactly as ordered.

Pancakes: I swapped my toast for pancakes, and they were fluffy and light. They serve them with soft whipped butter and syrup, which makes a huge difference.

The Service

The real star of the morning was Debbie. She’s essentially a one-woman show—running the bar, waiting tables, and serving everyone. She is absolutely awesome and keeps the place moving smoothly. It’s rare to see that kind of hustle these days.

The Verdict

Don’t let the “bar” label or the exterior scare you off. It’s a friendly, welcoming spot with better food than most dedicated breakfast joints in the area.

Give this place a chance—you won’t regret it.

Just wanted some buffalo wings so I pulled in on a whim. Got my wings but also got great service and heard a guy with a buttery voice sing karaoke. Woulda been happy with just the wings.

Great place for lunch! Stopped in with my husband for lunch and are very glad we did. After getting suggestions from the waitress, we both decided on the Dragon Melt sandwich and loved this twist on a grilled cheese sandwich. Food was delicious and unique, service was friendly and attentive and atmosphere was lively and clean. We’ll be back for sure!

We went for the first time last weekend. The server was very nice and friendly. However, they were lacking employees, which is what I hope happened. It took forever for drinks to come. The kindling cheese sticks were overcooked. My burger was delicious. My husband and son in laws fish and chips were overcooked and very small portioned for the price. Like ridiculously small. My husband got 2 double Basil Haden (we had a DD with us), and it came to $62.00!!!! We will probably never go back there again. Very disappointed.

Firestarter has been an important spot to me since I moved here in 2020. It’s where my friends and I spent every Friday crushing baskets of amazing wings. It’s where my wife and I go for our breakfast dates. It’s where we bring our out of town guests for good food with no hassle. In all the times I have been to Firestarter over the last five years I have never once had a bad experience. Also shout out to Debbie for always being awesome and always making us feel welcome!

Had the Blue Cheese Burger, one of the best I’ve had, and I’ve had many. Decent pool tables, drinks are not too expensive, friendly staff, I enjoyed pool night here.
