Fantastic food! Today was our first time at the General, and everything from the decor to the food to service is top notch. We had the Crawfish Boil (crawfish, shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes), and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff was attentive to the appropriate degree (frequent when we needed and absent when we didn’t). You. Must. Eat. Here.

We had a great dinner tonight at Crab General, the beef/shrimp/mushroom etc are super fresh. I love that each person gets their own pot, because usually when we eat at home we have to go with the non spicy flavored hot pot since my husband doesn’t like spicy food. The service is really good too. We are bringing our friends next weekend for more hot pot!

We went for the Hot Pot… it was some of the BEST hot pot I have had. Living in St. Louis, having it here and other states… I’ve never disliked it anywhere but I mean it when I say this place is a worthy contender. There is a sauce bar and you can change the taste of your dishes to cater to your own needs. The staff bring everything out promptly and it’s clean and fresh! I thought I was in heaven!! We went in February and I want to visit Indy again so we can go back! There is quite a bit to do nearby on foot too! I think my favorite items to add were the lotus root, hand cut beef and crawfish. Yum! Definitely worth checking out if you want to experience an abundance of flavor. This place is great for cooler months, you get a free steam facial with the hot pot!

This was great! I had never had Hot Pot before, so I can’t compare, but the food was all delicious and fresh. They bring you a menu and you mark off what you want and they bring it out to you right away. There is a good selection of meat, seafood, and vegetables, and even dumplings. Everything cooks in your soup in front of you in 2 mins except for the thinly sliced meat, which is 15-30 seconds. We got the fish meat balls, not knowing what to expect, and it turns out it was similar to a mini sticky buns with BBQ inside. It didn’t taste like fish but it was tasty. The only downside was that the main people working there didn’t have great English so as people new to hot pot it was a little difficult to figure out what we were doing, but once we got it, our whole experience was great! Can’t wait to go back!

After reading the first review, we were a little bit hesitating going there, but still decided to give it a shot, glad we did that.
You can tell the owner and waiters are trying hard to promote their newly opened restaurant, so, very good service. Food is not superb, but I would say above average. Fresh seafood and good quality meat. It’s not easy to find all you can eat hot pot at this price. They also provide shabushabu style hotpot (one pot per person), which I like abd think is of good value at this price.
Only downside is parking, which is a common issue for restaurants in broad ripple area. This restaurant has a parking lot in behind sharing with a sushi and steak restaurants, if lucky, you can find a spot there.
After all, I would recommend giving it a try!

Great food and great service. The ability to customize your own meal creates a really unique eating experience compared to your standard fare. We took advantage of the Birthday Girl/Guy Eats Free deal – super happy I picked this place to celebrate.

My wife and I were in town on a weekend getaway and we needed to go to the Broad Ripple area on an errand. I wanted seafood; Crab General popped up on my Google search.
I was a little apprehensive when we walked in. They have two menu choices, Louisiana or HotPot. Never tried HotPot before, but my wife was adventurous and gave it a try. It’s all-you-can-eat for $20 and you pick the ingredients. She asked lots of questions and the wait staff was very helpful. Showed her exactly how it works. She loved it!! If you aren’t sure how it works, they’ll be glad to help you.
I chose a Louisiana shrimp & crab boil. Mild seasoning was all I needed instead of spicy. The food was really, really good and portions were huge.
We were only passing through and may not have the chance to return, but it was so good I felt it was worth giving them the praise they deserve.

An absolute experience. The food is very good and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Our server made us few of the other staffs favorite dipping sauce and added to the experience. For $20 a person it’s incredibly worth it, better money spent than a buffet. It’s like fondue in that you cook 1 bite at a time, and that makes for a very social atmosphere since you will be here for at least 2 hours. Lots of time for good conversation over a few beers and some darn tasty shabu shabu. I hope to make this place a tradition with my friends on a weekly to bi-weekly basis.
