Nice ambience. The drinks are incredible! I had a bartender name Anna and the nickname I have given her is The Alchemist. Hands down. I had my one and only drink and it almost took me out and I’m use to strong drinks. The food was really good! Make sure you reserve your table ahead of time. I had a really good time!

First time here and im already in love with this place amazing drinks I had a old fashioned and a dagons tooth and for food I had the nachos since I wasnt that hungry but when it came out it was huge and I loved that and they where made the proper way not they crappy way someplace like apple bees would make it. I also talked with all the bartender and I asked them all about the menus and the bar itself and they where very accommodating with giving there view on it and it allowed me to have a very good conversation on multiple subjects. All the staff was friendly and very timely with the orders and and honestly amy who served me was amazing and in my book if I could give over 5 stars I would.

Nice dark tiki bar! Hidden off a side street in downtown. No sign out front, just a ships well to let you know you got to the right place! Dark and cozy inside. Great selection of drinks! We tried Obeds grog and the death never dies! Both were good and had a bit of a punch! Worth stopping if you like tiki!

If you’re in the area of Tacoma, Washington, definitely stop by Devil’s Reef. It’s on my list of one of the better tiki bars around the country. The look of the bar is pleasing to the eye. Upon entry, you lose yourself to the escapism created by the interior. The staff is amazing and very knowledgeable. Fresh ingredients are prepared in-house, and the bartenders are several steps above the average. The drinks are well balanced and delicious. Food items are offered and make a proper meal, plus they pair well with the cocktails. Definitely stop by this spot and enjoy great ambiance, good people as well as food and drink. It does not disappoint. Tiki peeps, you’ll definitely want to make this a destination. However, all will enjoy!

This place is amazing! A very fun and cozy tiki bar in an old historic area of Tacoma. I had the best drink that I’ve ever had, it’s called the Gilman House Special and it was so delicious that I can’t wait to go back for another one. We also tried different grog drinks that were amazing too.
For our food we shared nachos and ordered pork sliders, rice bowl and quesadilla. Everything was delicious. It was a very fun night!

Thought this place would be slightly more fun. Great drinks with attention to detail. Nice tiki decoration but too bright, music too quiet… just not quite right. Bartenders semi-friendly/ semi-unfriendly. Worth a try.

I had been looking forward to visiting this tiki bar for years and was pretty disappointed with my experience. The space is beautiful, the drink list is extensive, and what we ordered was well made. My disappointment began with the host who offered a table upstairs to watch the “sh!t show”, as he put it. (Thanks?) I also understand in COVID-times that menus and table service aren’t always guaranteed, but for a tiki bar, ordering at the bar felt so weird. Once our drinks were delivered I was surprised to see they were just liquids and crushed ice in a glass. No sprig of mint. No pineapple leaf or umbrella. Nothing. Bummer. And, not the establishments fault on my final let-down, but the table next to us kept watching videos at full volume on their phones. What the!?

This was a nice find. It is hidden. I had to ask a passer by my first visit. On Opera Alley, go into the Press Rooms entrance and make a left.

The atmosphere is amazing. They have cosy little hut type structures as well as bar seating and tables with chairs.

To order, you scan the menu with your QR code. Once you decide, order at the bar, then they bring everything to you. You can pay as you go or open a tab.

Staff are very friendly and pleasant. I have had the tacos and the chicken quesadilla. Both were good. Drinks are strong, but tasty.

Even if you don’t have to go, check out the restroom area. It’s pretty cool!

Devil’s Reef is without a doubt the most legit Tiki Bar in the Tacoma area. With wonderfully friendly bartenders, an amazing ambience, and a drink list as long as the Bible itself, it’s everything you want from a Tiki space.

Of course, none of that matters if the drinks aren’t good. But they most certainly are. You won’t find a single pre-mixed, sugary cocktail on this menu. Everything is a classic or modern take on Tiki with fresh squeezed fruit elements and an absolutely insane selection of rum.

If there was a single criticism I have for Devil’s Reef, it would be the food. It’s not bad, but it’s very much average bar food with nothing really standing out as great. I’d probably eat at a different restaurant and then come here for a drink. Or two. Or three.

Found this place through social media and had to check it out. It was walk ins only. Awesome place and great drinks. On the menu next to the drink name is skulls, more skulls indicates how strong the drink is. While we were there the place reminded us of the Tacoma Cabana that closed. So we asked staff and sure enough same owner.
