Went here for lunch. The crust of the tonkatsu was really on point. Also, the curry was flavorful without being overpowering. Enjoyed the pork and cheese rolls as it was different. Will come back again soon.

Saw this place online and I couldn’t wait to try. The first time I ordered a tonkatsu curry rice. The curry was great, and the tonkatsu was pretty big. However, maybe because the tonkatsu pieces were big, they were dry. Dipping them in the curry helped a bit. Wifey ordered a karaage curry udon. I thought the karrage was pretty good. Just wished they had draft beer. Even if it was the basic Sapporo or Asahi one, I would have been satisfied.
The 2nd time of visit, I ordered a Buta Doria, with ground pork and mushrooms. Yes, I had to wait 20 minutes, but it was all worth it. It was a huge dish! It was enough for 2-3 meals. Plus, it was very cheesy and rich so that I couldn’t eat a lot of it either. I wanted to order the beef croquettes, but they were out so I had to pick potato croquettes instead. They were tasty and I would order again. Wifey ordered the Menchi Katsu (2 deep fried beef burger) Curry Udon, but what she really wanted to order was the Tegone Cheese in Hamburg (beef), basically cheese within a huge beef patty. We didn’t know until the food came. Oh well, there’s always next time =P
Most of the food was great so 4.5 stars. There really isn’t a curry place like this in Tri-valley anymore. Given the uniqueness of this place, rounded up to 5 stars.

First time at this location but not my first time eating at Demiya.
The food is consistent between locations. Arrived at 130 on a Sunday and there was no wait.
Place was tidy and restrooms were clean.

The food came out within five minutes and tasted fine. To put it into perspective, I cleaned my entire plate. The service on the other hand was a different story. They weren’t necessarily rude, they were just extremely impatient. I’ll admit, I made a mistake trying to remember how many people were in our party as half of them hadn’t arrived yet but I was promptly rushed by the waitress at the front. When I tried to give the menus to her, she ignored me and left me with the stack. To top things off, I had water spilled on me while I was getting it refilled. In my opinion, they should just go back to their self service model as I found that to be more of an enjoyable experience.

Delicious fresh food. Tonkatsu curry a must order. Service is friendly and fast. Good family and student atmosphere. The place is a bit small so make sure come early to grab your spot.

This is a hot and new place to try!
The food and atmosphere are amazing. We tried the Chicken Katsu Teishoku (teishoku means it has rice, miso soup, salad, and edemame), and it is not dry, juicy, and flavorful. The Salad is amazing and the edemame taste fresh!
We also ordered Karaage and it is juicy and delicious!
Food takes a while to arrive. Took about 15 minutes but I guess it isn’t bad of a wait since the food is really cooked good.

There’s no name on the building so you would never know by looking at it, but this is like a secret spot for great Japanese style curry. The beer selection is unexpected – there are multiple Japanese beers I’ve never seen anywhere else. Will definitely be returning.

Best tonkatsu in the east bay. Juicy, tender, with the perfect amount of seasoning. They used red meat vs white meat. We came back twice in one week to try more dishes. The mayo with the karaage was very similar to the one I had in Japan . Service was very friendly.

Curry with Katsu is amazing. ( But it seems they forgot to give me some red gingers )
Little kids approval , lol. Choose no spicy for the little one.
Tried some Japan beer, it’s good. Just a little pricy on the beer ($11).
The place is small, since it’s just soft opening, it might take a while to get a seat. Be patient 🙂
Ps: Easy to park in this plaza.

Having eaten world best quality tonkatsu in Japan, Korea, i think this is not authentic. Pork meat is super dry, not juicy at all. Frying oil looks bad. I’ve never seen frying batter is so dark. Not worth taking picture of Tonkatsu. Look at other pictures taken. Don’t be fooled by favorable reviews!
