The service was fine. The servers were nice, though they didn’t blow us away.
The atmosphere is more contemporary than we expected for an “Authentic Mexican” Restaurant. It’s very much aiming to please the college crowd, as it’s not far away from some of the newest dorms.
The food is where it really fell through, for us. As avid fans of the other two of the “Big 3” Authentic Mexican Restaurants in Platteville, and not being impressed by Las Palmas years ago, we decided to give it another try.
Chips and Salsa: OK. The Salsa was watery and was sweeter than expected. The flavor was alright, though.
Horchata: Was alright, but had a weird extra flavor to it, like it had been sitting in a plastic bottle for some time.
Burrito Quesadillia: Lacked much flavor. The lettuce was covered in water, which made the whole thing soggy. The Rice with the Quesadillia also had no flavor.
Arroz con Pollo: This was decent and probably the best part of the meal. Though, it had the same flavorless rice, and the tortilla it came with was pretty nasty.
Overall, we’re glad we gave Las Palmas another chance after a few years. However, we’ll probably be giving it another few years before we return to see if anything has improved. Hopefully they are able to find a way to improve the flavor of many of their dishes. But, for now, we’ll stick with the other 2 of the “Big 3.”

Excellent! There was plenty of seating, the employees were friendly, and the portions were large. If you use a card, there is a service fee, just an fyi. Highly recommended! If we ever come back to the area, we will go again!

Hands down the most incredible staff.
Every time we come in our kids always feel very welcomed and adored. Going out with small children can be stressful, but they make it so much more comfortable.
On top of that, the food is always incredible. Huge portions always fresh. Affordable prices.

I’m a student at their local college. We were celebrating passing our in-person exams as well as a birthday. The food was ready quickly with nice portions. Our server was perfect!! They even treated our birthday girl to dessert, a shot and song.

I ordered through door dash to have my order delivered, when it arrived, we had 2 rices, the cheesecake, chips and a taco salad, our order was 2 refried beans and rice, 1 taco salad that was supposed to come with refried beans and rice, fried ice cream, cheesecake, and a side of sour cream. Food is good, overall am very disappointed I was missing half of my order. I’ve always had great experiences eating in here, I wish I could’ve said the same about there preparation and delivery through door dash.

Overall meh. A large menu with pretty small font. First time in tried to sample a staple (chix ench supr) and found the chicken inside dry, portions conservative, and no rice or beans included. The chips at table are good, salsa is weak & soupy, but 3 kinds of hot sauce at table was nice. Other member of party got a burrito they were very happy with. Kids menu has quite a few selections. 6-8 taps of beer but 3-4 were out. Plenty of seating at tables and bar, bathrooms are outdated but not dirty, and parking was plentiful. Overall prices are a bit high if not shopping from the lunch 11-3 M-Sat Menu. No lunch menu on Sundays. $8.33 for a large tap beer, $3 soda, $4 Mex soda. Beer mug had a large glass chip on drinking side, waiter was not 100% with communication so interaction was brief. Card fees are automatically applied which becomes confusing when paying with ca$h a second print out would be nice to see how they were removed.

Los Palmas is our favorite Mexican restaurant. We live 20 miles away, but the drive is ALWAYS worth it! The menu is extensive (the owner prides himself on the number of available dishes) and we have tried a lot of them and they never disappoint!
The shrimp cocktail is excellent, they have a giant burrito that takes up the whole plate, the chimichanga is fantastic, and even the Taco salad was marvelous! The fajitas were ok (not exceptional).
We have taken several friends and family members here and have always had a wonderful time. Great food, a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, a very Mexican feel, and marvelous food. It’s our go-to place now for friends and family when they want great Mexican food.
