Texan Taco Bar is a fun little spot in Chicago if you’re looking for a place to grab a drink and hang out. I tried the shrimp with honey chipotle sauce along with a couple of margaritas. Both were okay — not terrible, not amazing, just fine. The shrimp was cooked well enough but could have used a bit more flavor or seasoning to really stand out. The margaritas were refreshing but also pretty standard, the kind you’d expect at most casual spots.
Where this place really wins points is the vibe. The atmosphere is lively without being overwhelming, and the crowd gives it a nice, upbeat energy. It feels like the kind of place you could come with a group of friends to unwind, laugh, and enjoy the night without any pressure to “dress up” or make a big deal out of it.
Service was friendly and the space itself has a welcoming feel. Even though the food and drinks didn’t wow me, the overall experience was enjoyable thanks to the setting and the people.
If you’re in the area and want a casual bar with decent eats, good drinks, and a fun crowd, Texan Taco Bar is worth a stop.

Upstairs bar would be great if they invested in a better sound system. Their DJ cranks the treble up to 100% and bass to 0% and way too loud (doesn’t matter if it’s country, you need a full range speaker system or else it sounds horrendous). Too loud to have a conversation and not good enough quality sound to enjoy or dance to unless you’re really drunk. Hurts your ears. I say this as a sound engineer, invest in your atmosphere and people won’t leave after an hour.

A good dive bar to watch sports. Didn’t try any of the food, and didn’t see many people eating but great and affordable drink specials with ample TVs to watch any sports game! A great place for a football Sunday!

Went for an after work happy hour and it was a pretty good spot on a summer day. Only the second floor was open, you took an elevator up to a full open air bar and patio space.
Food was decent and prices were reasonable for happy hour, anything after happy hour hits into that price versus quality comparison and would be a bit too pricey for what it is.
Service was pretty quick and responsive, I’d definitely take another big group there after work during the summer. In winter I could see this being a bit less attractive of an option but still one worth considering.

If you can get past the slow drink service (they are still pretty new) I personally love this place! Great nachos and chicken quesadilla, which comes out looking more like a pizza. The margaritas are really tasty in my opinion and they have multiple flavor options. I always head right upstairs and request a table on the open deck. The perfect space to day drink with friends on a Saturday.

The service was amazing and the food was amazing but the management was the worst. I was being seated by the hostess and an apparent manager questioned me on why I was sitting where I was and then after I explained continued to call me names and that I was not supposed to be sitting where I was while there was 10+ open tables. Anyway the service was amazing but the management was absolutely terrible

The Texan Taco Bar did indeed have tacos! A great variety, too. I definitely suggest the Beef Me Up Scotty.
Great service, drinks, and a lively space. The atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. The band definitely had people dancing.

This restaurant has a really unique entrance which adds a cool vibe right from the start. The upstairs bar is huge, but the music was very loud. We were relieved to get seated in their outdoor area which was more enjoyable. The food was great TexMex. My favorite was the steak quesapizza and the fish tacos were also delicious. Maragaritas were good. Our waitress was attentive, gave us great recommendations, and checked on us regularly.
