Asked if a credit card would do, the surprised hostess demurred—solo efectivo—and gestured toward an ATM against the wall. Three or four men dressed in black who did not appear to be eating sat at a table, their conversation suspended. Despite a rhapsodic on-line description promising fragrant tortillas and hearty stews, the establishment displayed no visual or olfactory evidence of food being made or consumed. Puzzled, I thanked the hostess and left. The one star assigned here reflects the overall oddity of the experience, not the quality of the food, which I hope to try some day.
