BBQ Depot is far better than any Zoo food has any right to be. Graded on a curve of being quick service at the Nashville Zoo, this was grand surprise. The meat was smoked to near perfection and their sauce was delicious. You really can’t ask for better zoo food!

We stopped here for lunch while at the zoo, expecting to pay entirely too much for very little, very mediocre, food. I was so glad to be proven wrong!
The BBQ nachos were served in one of those little paper food trays, but they were piled high with toppings. Each of us got at least three big chunks of the meat – in all, probably the equivalent to the size of my fist, if not more. In addition to that, it was some nice mango de gallo, jalapenos, cheese, and other toppings. It was a big serving, it was filling, and it was delicious! I think they were ~$12, or around that price, which is less than I’d normally pay for a similar meal at a bbq joint near me.
They also had a few drinks available at the bbq booth (we got powerades, but there was water and some pop there, too), but there’s another booth next to them that does snacks, hot dogs, and drinks that might have had other options (I’m not sure). It’s also conveniently located next to the New World building, which has bathrooms (we definitely had to wash our hands after the nachos).
