The Villa was a classic midwestern family-owned and family-operated red sauce Italian restaurant. The kind one would find all over Milwaukee, Chicago, etc.

The food was excellent, atmosphere is great, and our waitress was lovely! Only issue we had was halfway through our meal hearing the older male host who was sitting at a booth across from us in between seating people, on the phone bitching about one of the waitresses. We had previously witnessed him make a couple go sit in the same room as an entire wedding party when there were open booths, saw them make a comment to each other about it, only to hear him talk about not seating people in her section so she would have to sit there and not get tips. It was very unprofessional to be talking bad about workers in front of customers.

I loved everything about this place. The bright walls and old school atmosphere were great. Waitstaff was more than attentive. Food was delicious and filling. I will definitely return on next visit! Thank you Nessa and rest of staff.

The music was too quiet, the lights were too dim. The people behind us used phone flashlights to view the menus, although it didn’t bother my party.
The food was overpriced. My husband and I split an entree, had one dinner salad, and couldn’t make it out under $30. There was also a credit card surcharge, which wasn’t notated anywhere on the menu but was included on our bill (4-5% of total bill).
The food portions were also small for what we’d expected. The $7.5 antipasto salad (see photo) was underwhelming. As a positive note, they made their own tomato sauce for the Ravioli, and that was the stand out point of our experience. However, the $4.5 meatballs were not anything to brag out either as they were smaller than your average cookie dough scooper.
Our service was quick, as they had a big party coming in soon after us. When it came time to pay our bill, we kept getting overlooked, which made our exit about 10 minutes too long.
The breadchunk (as opposed to breadsticks) could use some tweaking, but when they were dipped in a sauce, they excelled.
Overall, it was a cute place to stop while in town, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

You can’t beat the atmosphere in there it’s all very romantic and the food is excellent. I always get a steak and some pasta on the side, the salads and garlic bread are great as well. It’s a little busy in there so wait times can be long but it’s worth it!

I get it. Everyone wants to dine downtown and wait an hour to be packed into a corner. We did too. But if you’re willing to go up the hill, you can get walk-in seating with great service and good Italian American comfort food. It’s not going to reinvent dining but you’ll leave happy while others downtown are still waiting for a table

We ordered cheese bread and lasagna on a cloud, one with meat balls and one with sausage. Both were really good I’d recommend sausage.

The atmosphere and music was Italian. Our waiter was attentive, friendly and helpful. The garlic bread was out of this world. The food is scrumptious and you will be full.

We stopped at this restaurant while we were in town for a couple days. Was seated quickly and our server was very prompt. I ordered a half portion of spaghetti (child’s portion in parentheses) and had mushrooms added to my meal. $4.50 for either a whole meal or half meal. I think there was five to six in my bowl. Hardly any spaghetti and tons of sauce leftover. The meat sauce had a lot of green peppers in it which I don’t normally see in restaurant sauces. All of the sauce tasted like green peppers. Yuck! The hubby ordered gnocci’s and when it came out, it looked like the sauce was watered down. Again for authentic Italian sauce this was not good. It should of been thick. In my opinion, the prices were high for what you got. And then there was the credit card charge that was not brought to our attention by the server nor was there any signs near or around the table. I think this should of been disclosed. I don’t like bashing small businesses but the only positive was our server. Very pleasant.

My husband and I found this Gem while staying in Marquette. It’s a smaller mom and pop shop. Nothing small about the portions and the flavor. The homemade garlic bread is even better than my homemade garlic bread. Service was excellent as well. Definitely recommend this place.
