It’s odd there aren’t more reviews considering how busy it was last night. Excellent ambience and great service. Our party loved everything we ordered; the Rigatoncini was phenomenal.
One big piece of feedback: be more transparent with allergens on the menu. While staff took my allergy seriously, several items contained peanuts or tree nuts that weren’t disclosed. Four dishes with “chili crisp” included peanuts, and a salad had walnuts that weren’t listed.

I celebrated Mother’s Day at Blackbird’s in New Canaan and it was an absolutely amazing experience! I highly recommend ordering the margarita flight, guacamole and chips, spicy tuna rolls, smash burger with fries, and bread pudding. The service was incredible and very accommodating. Our server went above and beyond to ensure my Mom’s dining experience was very special and memoriable. Highly recommend this incredible restaurant in New Canaan for the best food, drinks and service.

I have been a huge fan and have dined at Blackbird twice monthly since thay opened. The food is always outrageous and the sevice is usually great. Last night was a first. My party of 4 arrived on time for our reservation. We were promptly informed by our server before ordering that “the appetizers and main courses would be delivered at the same time.” We were told it was because “when dishes that take a long time to prepare, like the duck or a well done steak, it could take 45 minutes longer.” We were being rushed and were furious to be treated so rudely in an upscale restaurant. None of us ordered appetizers. When we were finished with our main courses, three of us sat there with our dirty plates while one of our party was still eating. Our server came by, did not clear the plates, and asked if we were “contemplating any desserts” while one of our party was chewing! I don’t know how many people are going to put up with being treated so disrespectfully in a fancy restaurant. Everyone who regularly goes to Blackbird expects to pay more than one hundred dollars per person, expects excellent food and expects excellent service. I would be surprised if this new policy did not only offend a few people. I will wait to return until I hear otherwise.

The mini tostadas were crisp, flavorful and a perfect opener; the fried oysters were beautifully done. The combination of global inspired small plates and inventive mains makes the menu feel exciting.
The ambiance and cocktail game are strong too could be an ideal spot for a date night or a sophisticated evening out with friends. Service was smooth overall.
If I were nit picking a couple of portions were on the smaller side, and the pricing reflects the upscale surroundings, but given the quality of food, service, and setting, I’d definitely return.

Very cute new space. Got a falafel sandwich and one chicken sandwich for lunch. Only ok. The falafel was tasty but small in portion sized for the lunch price and same with the chicken sandwich. Only ok.
Sole is related to them and Sole is great! I don’t know, for the price for lunch I would have loved a bigger portion or a more diverse menu. Spiga is down the road and bigger portions for the same price. Will try again since this place is new and just getting going maybe they specialize in dinner entrees whereas the fish would have been a better option.

Ordered the lunch special: house salad with two sushi rolls. Great flavor and freshness in both the salad and shrimp tempura rolls. Also ordered a mocktail which was great. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was lovely.
