I took my daughter here for breakfast while exploring downtown Wilmington. From the outside, it looked a little rough, but I try not to judge a book by its cover. Walking in felt like stepping back in time, but not in a charming way. Everything looked painfully dated and semi-dilapidated.

Two very sweet older ladies were hosting and busing tables, and they were the highlight of the experience—kind, efficient, and engaging. I ordered the hashbrowns, ham, and eggs. Unfortunately, the ham was so oversalted it was inedible. I had to chop it (with the plastic fork) up into small bits and mix everything together just to make it somewhat palatable. I was rather shocked that a breakfast house was serving for breakfast on paper plates with plastic silverware. Then the entire experience. I might be old-fashioned, but I grew up with the understanding that you only served guests on paper plates if it was a barbecue, a picnic or a moving party where all the dishes were packed up in boxes.

The ceilings were covered in grease and dust, and I honestly don’t know how this restaurant received a 95.0 health rating. The kitchen’s condition raised several concerns about food safety and cleanliness. We left with a to-go box that I ended up throwing away.

I genuinely wanted to love this little local diner because we enjoy supporting small breakfast spots, but the lack of cleanliness and questionable food quality made me want to finish my meal quickly and leave. Sadly, we won’t be returning or recommending it to friends.

Great little gem in center of town. Service was on point, never a moment of needing anything. The food was delicious. I had the fried bologna, hash browns & eggs topped with sausage gravy. The diner had old fashioned metal turn style seats at the counter. Due to small size, there’s only 8 booths, so may have to wait for booth seating.
Parking lot was full, so parked on street is convenient. Definitely recommend to others.

This place is special. You really don’t see a lot of classic diners around anymore. Especially with the ever growing gentrification of wilmington. But this place – and I mean this in a good way- looks like it hasn’t had any kind of update in at least 50 years. Nothing flashy, no brunch mimosa millennial bs, just good food and an old fashioned atmosphere. The staff remembered us after only one visit and were incredibly kind. Food was delightful, service was fast, and we left happy and full 🙂

10/10! What a great experience this morning?! The Poorman’s Benedict was excellent! Just enough food ready in minutes! They have the best gravy in town, just like MeeMaw used to make! Kim and Laura made us feel at home! Restaurant is quaint and clean! Put those one on your list as a must try! We will be back.

Classic breakfast diner with a greasy spoon vibe (not derogatory- I love greasy spoon type places!) it’s comforting to know that while Wilmington changes rapidly around us Whitefront is gonna keep serving delicious food with friendly service and no pretentiousness. Get your biscuits grilled and your potatoes crispy, you won’t be disappointed!

We have visited and eaten at White front breakfast house several times over the last eight years. It’s certainly a throwback to an earlier time gone by which is refreshing to see. Unlike the somewhat plastic and predictable atmosphere and set ups of most restaurants, white front breakfast house has been the same for the last 20+ years.
The restaurant is clean, the white front staff is friendly. On our most recent visit the food seem to take a bit longer than expected given that the restaurant wasn’t very crowded. But in fairness, the short order cooks were continuously cooking, so I’ll give that a pass. The food is definitely country and I will post the menu so you can see that it certainly isn’t like any other restaurant in Wilmington.

Not only was the food, well priced, and served up quickly, but all the staff was very friendly! My kids loved their meals and enjoyed speaking with the staff. My next visit for work I’m definitely returning and look forward to it!
