Stunningly beautiful bar! Not a fan of whiskey so owner chose my drink for me based on my flavor profile. Ive never had a sour cherry beer but it was delicious. Food was wonderful and the steak was cooked perfectly! Bathrooms were spacious and had changing station in them as well. Will visit again for sure

Bartender’s know their stuff, are very sociable and there’s pretty much any kind of liquor you could want. Unfortunately my ribs had to be cut apart with a knife and gave me mild food poisoning the morning after. Might have been a one off, though tbh I’d rather have just not eaten them at all which is a very sad thing to say about BBQ ribs. Rest of the food may be good idk, drinks are great though

If you’re truly a whiskey lover, this is the place to go. Plenty of folks do wine bars and tastings, but this spot is for real spirits. If you want to explore exotic bourbons, whiskeys, or scotches, you can absolutely do it here.

One standout bartender is Nick. If you get him, you’re in great hands. He knows the spirit list inside and out, and even if you’re new to whiskey, he’ll walk you through it without any attitude. He’s attentive, sharp, and extremely professional.

And it doesn’t stop at the bar. This isn’t just a whiskey lounge. It’s a full-on restaurant, and the food is legitimately impressive. Every bite holds up to every sip.

The atmosphere is the cherry on top. It has that classic gentleman’s bar vibe. No smoking, but it still feels like that kind of place. It’s perfect for bringing your guys or your ladies for a great night out. Five-star experience every time.

Great place. Unassuming and very personable. Phenomenal selection and Nick is a great host. While you’re there, pick his brain, he is a great resource on the history of whiskey and bourbon. Try the Brussels sprouts, fabulous. And the dates wrapped in bacon.

Been here twice and unfortunately don’t have many great things to say about it. The food was pretty consistently bad. The fried chicken sandwich breading tasted burnt but the nashville hot sauce on it was flavorless; the artichoke dip was oversalted, and the mac and cheese just was not good especially for the price. Drinks were mediocre at best, which is disappointing for a place that bills itself as a premium liquor bar. The service was fine the first time I went, but unfortunately slow the second time. They were also a bit snobby about the type of whiskey they recommended for a whiskey sour (which by the way was made without egg white.) There’s a way to make premium recommendations tactfully, but I think their servers miss the mark there. What tipped me from “I just won’t eat here again” to “I would not recommend others eat here” is that their management has been pretty rude to the nearby neighbors on several occasions. It’s really unfortunate when a small business goes out of their way to alienate the folks in their own neighborhood. Good news is there’s plenty of other restaurants nearby that are much better across the board.

Really nice little spot in the downtown Richmond area. We were a table of 4 adults and 2 kids. Adults all ordered Old Fashions and they were very good. The server was awesome very attentive knowledgeable about bourbons and suggested some for us. I had the smoked duck with grits and it was smoked perfectly. Wife had the hot honey fried chicken and she said it was great. The smoked baby back ribs were also ordered and enjoyed. This would be a five star review if they would have had everything on the menu. They were out of cheese so we could not try the Mac and Cheese which we had heard great reviews about. Because of the cheese being out of stock there were a couple dishes we could not try. Other that that overall great experience will definitely be back!

I’m a fan of everything else about this place, but their BBQ. The brisket was dry. I think it was yesterday’s, and they just added juice to compensate. The wings were just smokey and dry, not flavorful. The steak? Take a look at my photo. Steakhouse quality at a small bar. Quaint, cozy atmosphere. The bartenders are my favorite. They are professional and knowledgeable, social.. just seem like great guys. One of the best old fashions and whiskey sours I’ve ever had. Great drinks at McCormacks!

Thought I would enjoy this place, but it’s just overrated.
First the food. Chicken wings were ok. Too dependent on the sauce. Not even salt on the actual wings. The mac and cheese…OMG delicious! Brussel sprouts really really good. Rosemary potatoes were pretty good too. The steak was slightly under medium well, but I’d rather have it under than over. Just a little salty for my taste.

Service. Was ok. They do have a no hat rule so be ready for that.

Atmosphere. Nice little quiet place.

The bad. It’s a little pretentious. We were greated well, it just gives off a snooty vibe. Some of the whiskey prices are crazy expensive. Our server seemed annoyed that I asked for an old fashioned that didn’t have a high rye whiskey. Like I’m paying for it, I’ll drink what I like.

Also they charge you to use a credit card. That alone will keep me from coming back. You shouldn’t take the added benefits from accepting cards and then charge your customers for that convenience. Also the owner seems to be somewhat of a hot head. Read all the low reviews you will see his responses. I’ll wait for his response.

Overall a decent place to go, but not returning.

We’ve visited McCormack’s Big Whisky Grill but this was our first time at the smaller more intimate location. Nick, the bartender, was absolutely wonderful and provided us with great recommendations.

They accommodated my allergy and still provided a wonderful meal. The duck was absolutely to die for and I highly recommend trying it.

We look forward to returning.
