Worst food ever. The lady at the reception suggested lamb tarkari worst lamb curry. Just 4 pieces that too pieces with chunks of fat and only gravy. Also took kadai chicken never had such pathetic chicken curry. Took plain paratha which was stale, burnt and tasteless. It was definitely reheated food. I would recommend not to visit this place.

We had lamb curry, chicken tikka masala and naan. Naan and CTM’s gravy were good…however, the lamb curry was drenched in oil and the meat in both dishes tasted stale.

Been down here in the area for the last 3 days. Came in for the lunch special – no longer offered.
But it’s okay, I ordered the chicken Kora? (Curry dish) had an idea of what I was getting lol

Absolutely delicious flavorful and appropriately priced compared to anywhere else here in La Jolla.

Portion was just right, especially if you’re into the balsamic rice. I ate the rice proportionally with the curry. Filled me up. And my body feels good after eating. I totally recommend this place as a casual drop in for authentic flavors and atmosphere.

This is a small family owned place- think like your stepping into another part of the world here and you’ll really appreciate the humble surroundings and attention the family recipes.

We were looking for something different after eating sushi and Mexican food several times. This place was great! The mild dishes were still tasty, and actually very mild. The waitress was efficient and genuinely friendly. We had expected to pay more than our past few dinners, since we were in La Jolla, but it wasn’t!

Each item is expertly cooked to order! Dining at Taste of The Himalayas was a unique and tasty treat! The owner Savant and partner Melissa were stellar, working side by side to insure the best dining experience for every guest attending during my visit there. Staffing was short, however for the quality of the food it is a MUST visit for anyone who appreciates authentic Himalayan and vegan dishes. I was immersed with the scents of Himalayan/Tibetan spices and a friendly, homelike feel that set me immediately at ease. The outside of the restaurant has the appearance of an organic family based business. The personal attention given to each diner was quite impressive as the pair, along with a bevy of cooks in the kitchen , hustled to fill “to go” and “online orders” but not too busy to see to the needs of the in-house and outside guests.
I will definitely make a return visit when in La Jolla!

I was appalled by my experience here at the taste of the Himalayas. An entire week’s worth of sodium in one singular dish of Veg biryani is simply unacceptable. I consider myself quite lenient with what I eat, but this place was truly really bad at providing us a good experience. Very expensive for what the value of the meal was.

I want to give an honest review of the restaurant. The food was undeniably delicious, full of flavor and executed with skill. The male host/waiter was polite and very nice. The food came out in a normal time frame. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala. The portions were quite small for the price point. There were only maybe 4oz of cubed pieces of chicken! Thats not enough… really. Despite this small critique, I still recommend trying out their cuisine.

We were strolling La Jolla enjoying the wonderful weather after we watched the seals and sea lions.

The original restaurant we hoped to visit was closed. Walking back toward our car, we read the Taste of the Himalaya’s menu posted outside and decided to dine in.

We had wonderful service from entering the front patio, and was given a table outside with lovely views.

Our order: the mixed tandoori, chicken makhani, and the garlic naan.

We ordered medium level spiciness (4), and food was brought promptly to the table as it was ready.

It was a lovely and delicious meal, we finished everything. Being able to share the dishes, we were satisfied with the portion sizes.

The location is perfect. However, the food was a bit disappointing. We ordered chicken choila, chicken momo, and the lamb thali set. The choila didn’t taste authentic, the momo was just okay, and the lamb was extremely spicy—even though we had specifically asked for a mild level (4 out of 10 spice level). We usually enjoy spicy food, but this was overpowering. To make matters worse, the staff insisted that we had ordered incorrectly, which was frustrating.

Tried this place mostly because it was one of the few places we found open for lunch on a Monday. It wasn’t really clear if the restaurant was open, but we were greeted and seated after standing in the doorway for a little bit. We both got the lunch special since it was a great deal. $14 for a veggie curry, a protein curry, and choice of two sides. It also came with lentil soup. I got the coconut veggie curry, the chicken korma, rice and roti. My partner also got the coconut veggie curry, chicken tikka masala, and rice with garlic naan. Everything had great flavor and was very filling.

Food: 10/10
Service: 7/10
Price: 9/10 lunch special was a good price, the normal dishes are a bit pricey but fairly typical
