We went here on a Tuesday night and it was very low-key and not busy at all, which made for a relaxed evening. The service was great from start to finish.

We began at the bar for happy hour drinks and appetizers (happy hour is bar-only). The drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. The appetizers were okay — the lamb meatballs were a hit, but the fries weren’t very crispy and some items tasted like they may have been reheated rather than made fresh.

We then moved to a table for dinner. The bread and oil were delicious. For our mains, the fish was excellent and the cabbage wedge was also very good. The half chicken, however, felt like it may not have been made to order.

I rated the atmosphere 4 stars because a homeless individual was allowed inside and approached us at the bar asking for money (No judgement to the homeless guy, I’m just being transparent) The staff handled it kindly and professionally by offering him water and asking him to leave. We appreciated their compassion, it wasn’t quite the experience we expected at a fine dining restaurant — especially since we were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary.

Overall, great service and some standout dishes, with a few areas that could be improved.

We so enjoyed our experience at Besa. The atmosphere is modern, but warm and cozy, and the food and drinks were fantastic from start to finish. Our server Claire made wonderful recommendations, was attentive and kind and really helped make the evening great. The iberico secreto and Mille Feuille were highlights! The care and intention that has gone into the menu is evident, and we will definitely be revisiting Besa for more evenings out.

BESA is the one place you have to eat at if you can only eat at one place in Detroit.
The food, drinks, and guest service is top notch around this place. When you walk in you feel like a millionaire. Claire was our waitress for this night and it was one of the most pleasant nights possible. She took time to learn about us and ask questions about us. We also got to learn about her and enjoyed having a connection with her.
My wife and I can’t wait to come back to BESA again for another date night.

We had a great time at Besa. It has become one of our favorite restaurants in Detroit. Everything we had tasted amazing. Our waitress Abby was also very nice and personable!

Hands down, this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. Daniel, our waiter/server, was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! He was just as excited to have us there, as we were being there to try it! I mentioned being allergic to shellfish, but I ordered the scallops…he ran back out from the back to make sure I would be ok eating those. I explained my allergy and we were good to go! He was so accommodating and had great conversation. Very personable and even treated us to a sample of an appetizer that was absolutely delicious! The focaccia is so pillowy soft on the inside and crispy on the outside…chef’s kiss!

My table ordered:
Pulled Lamb Shoulder – This appetizer is a showstopper. We had no expectations for this, but this something I would eat by itself as an entree. I’m not a hummus girlie, but this warm hummus is just too good!
Beet Salad – Everyone raved about how delicious this was!
Sea Scallops – Sweet and delicious! I haven’t had any like these!!!
Loch Duart Salmon – Delicious!
Olive and Tomato Ragu with Chicken – Very good!
Wagyu Smash Burger – My mom who has a smaller appetite, ate all of this. She said it was one of the best burgers she’s ever had!!!

If you’re in the area or exploring downtown Detroit, don’t hesitate to visit Besa. The food, the service, the ambiance are everything. Ask for Daniel!

I will definitely be back, soon!!!

Besa is top notch. We were seated promptly and had a server at our table right away—the service was exceptional and perfectly paced. The food was excellent from start to finish. Even the simple touches, like the bread and oil, were top-notch. Our entrées were superb. We were in and out with plenty of time before the curtain. I will definitely be back.

Besa Detroit is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the experience was top-tier across the board. Alex the bartender was AMAZING—friendly, knowledgeable, and made some of the best drinks we’ve had in the city. You can tell she truly cares about her craft and the guest experience.

Daniele, the manager, was equally impressive. Professional, attentive, and clearly running a tight ship while still making everyone feel welcome. It’s rare to see management so dialed in and genuinely present.

To top it off, the owner was incredibly kind and personable, which says a lot about the culture of this place. When leadership cares, it shows—and Besa Detroit is a perfect example of that.

Outstanding service, great vibes, and an overall unforgettable experience. We’ll absolutely be back.

Had a great experience at BESA! Our server, Joy, was excellent—she took care of us every time and made sure we had everything we needed. The starters were okay; the cheese was a bit hard and would’ve been better with some crackers to pair with it. The lion’s mane mushroom kebab had great seasoning, but the texture wasn’t my favorite. However, the lobster tail and salmon were both cooked to perfection—absolutely delicious. We ended our night with a fantastic dessert, which was the perfect sweet touch to finish the meal. Overall, a solid experience with great service and some standout dishes!

It was a great experience. Went to dinner with friends and food was fresh and cocktails were good. But best part was our server, Claire. She was attentive, sweet, detail oriented, original and creative. Honestly, she made our night! Not to mention the endless pictures she offered to take of us. Even gave me a sweet bday note. Talk about making a woman feel special!

We stopped here for appetizers and cocktails, and had a great experience! The food and drinks we tried were all unique and delicious, and Sebastian was attentive and friendly. We tried the Short Rib Arancini, Herb Marinated Chicken Kabob, and Broccoli Frito… all were so tasty! The “Toast to the Coast” cocktail was so unique and flavorful, I loved it! “Hard Day’s Night” was also great, very refreshing. Highly recommend a visit!
