Firstly, the cheese in the omelette was just square sandwich cheese that didn’t melt properly, even after reheating, which made the dish look and taste off. It felt like a cheap substitute rather than the fresh, melted cheese I’m used to. Additionally, instead of diced onions, they topped the home fries with a pile of sautéed onions, which overwhelmed the omelette and didn’t blend well with the other flavors. The onions were also slightly overcooked and greasy, which affected the overall taste and texture.
The home fries, while decent in themselves, were overshadowed by the heavy onion topping. Considering I paid over $16 for this meal, I expected better quality, proper presentation, and attention to detail. It’s disappointing because I’ve had consistently good experiences at other Silver Diners.
After this experience, I don’t see myself returning or recommending this particular location. A shame honestly.
It’s described as a “Giant super lump crab cake, English muffin, baby spinach, diced tomatoes, roasted corn, basil, cage-free Amish eggs over-easy, hollandaise, and Old Bay.”
Easily one of the most flavorful breakfasts I’ve had in quite a while. Robert Giaimo, his partner Chef Ype Von Hengst, and their team at Silver Diner certainly know how to take breakfast from ordinary to extraordinary.
She ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict, and honestly, it was one of those dishes where you take one bite and realize, “Yep… this is the good stuff.” The hollandaise had that perfect brightness — not heavy, not gloopy, but smooth and silky with real flavor. You could instantly tell this wasn’t some commercial mix that got reheated in a squeeze bottle. The ingredients tasted genuinely farm-sourced, which is something you rarely get at 8pm in a diner. The eggs, the tomatoes, the smoked ham — all of it came together beautifully, and the home fries with caramelized onions sealed the deal. She loved it.
I went for the new Benedict Smash Burger, and if you like your comfort food with a little swagger, get this. Creekstone beef, a fried egg, smoky bacon, chili-crisp hollandaise — it’s one of those burgers that somehow hits every corner of your taste buds at once. Savory, crispy, creamy, a little heat from that chili crisp… and the brioche bun actually held its shape instead of collapsing like most “fancy” diner buns. Fries were perfectly crispy too.
Service was excellent. Our waiter, Jason, was on point — attentive without hovering, genuinely helpful, and offered solid menu insight. You can tell he likes the food and wants guests to enjoy it.
We’re only in Fredericksburg for a short stint, but this place made the list of “definitely coming back before we leave.”
A late-night meal that hit every mark. Highly recommend.
