The aesthetics of the desserts is what caught my eye for this place but after tasting a few desserts.. they taste as good as they look. I really loved the vanilla brulee and mango especially. They were not sweet at all and was a perfect balance between sweet and fruity. If you love really love anything vanilla, definitely recommend the vanilla brulee. Customer service was great, definitely would come back to try other desserts as well.

A nice cafe with great service and Halal-friendly desserts! I visited this location twice, one time being Valentine’s day, and the lines were very long. On Valentine’s, the line went down to the bathroom and wrapped back around, but kudos to the staff who kept service running so smoothly that it barely felt like we waited! Not only that, but we could see the staff in the back working full time and restocking very fast. The mango desserts nearly finished while we were in line, but by the time our order was ready, they’d already brought out a fresh batch.

During peak hours, this is definitely a difficult place to find a spot to sit and eat, or even work because it’s very loud due to the crowd, but there is ample seating and this is due to the popularity of the location rather than being a fault of the cafe itself.

The desserts are a tad pricey compared to the taste, but they are beautiful and clearly labor-intensive. Just be prepared to spend $8 or more per dessert. I personally found the vanilla brulee and similar desserts to be more appealing than the trendy fruit desserts!

All in all, if you want a place to sit and work, definitely go during off hours. If you’re looking for takeout, don’t be afraid to brave the lines! The staff know what they’re doing and will get you your order quickly.

I had a mixed experience here. The matcha latte and twisted croissant were disappointing—both tasted pretty average and didn’t really stand out compared to other cafés. It felt like just another spot serving standard drinks and pastries without anything particularly special.

The desserts, however, were better. I tried the pistachio dessert and really liked it; it was one of the highlights of the visit.

Unfortunately, the place itself wasn’t very clean. The seating area and overall space felt a bit dirty and not very well maintained, which took away from the experience.

On a positive note, the service was good. The staff were friendly and helpful, which I appreciated.

Overall, it was an okay visit—some decent desserts and good service, but the drinks, pastries, and cleanliness could definitely be improve

A must try place for sure. Everything was just so good. I don’t like matcha but I took a sip of the matcha strawberry drink and this completely change my mine. Also the dessert especially the mango one was so delicious, but the Lemon was also special. so I ordered a to go box for my family. Just had to take some home

Price wise mango desert and a cream brûlée cappuccino for 23$ seems a lot but I definitely would do it again. Worth it!

Besides that I think there should be more work done on the interior. In my opinion, It dosnt really matches the vibe. The furniture look outdated and just spread across the room. But that is only when you pay attention to it.
But with great food and beverage plus lovely service you can look past that.

First time at this coffee and pastry shop and everything was so delicious. We tried the banana bread matcha, pistachio cream latte, and chai tea, plus a mango pastry, spinach croissant, and tiramisu croissant. Everything was so good that we ended up splitting all of them just to try more. Great flavors, fresh pastries, and really good drinks. Definitely a spot we’ll be going back to

This place has an indoor and outdoor sitting and the interior design is cozy for catching up and probably working and studying but it isn’t nearly silent inside.

We attempted to visit here several times and they were always sold out. I am glad that we finally can see and taste the hype. The pastries are beautiful. They have several options in the menu like cheesecake, praline and more. Their drinks menu is diverse from caffeinated to non caffeinated and even with alcohol. The service was straightforward nothing really much to say.

When I tried the pastries, I didn’t understand the hype. It is good but not something I will crave, at least the one we chose. The technique and presentation though was really luring and enticing to try. The drink is okay, I will probably opt to go here for pastries than drinks. Also they have other pastries on the side that is savory.

Overall it’s nice experience

Layered is a trendy coffee shop with visually amazing little cakes which look just like the fruits they are flavored of. There was a full assortment to choose from when I arrived at 11:30 am (keep in mind this was a Thursday). I tried the raspberry cake. It was good but not mind-blowing. The cake itself was soft and a little less sweet than western cakes. Similar to cake from Asian countries like Korea or Japan. The raspberry jam filling was very nice, a little tart, which I like. The mind-blowing part was how nice the cakes looked. For over $12 per cake, it is one and done for me (or for special occasions). I would definitely go back for the vibes of the shop itself. It was a very chill atmosphere with plenty of seats.

Layered in Fairfax is such a cozy and welcoming spot! The coffee is smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed every time, and the pastries are fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Everything tastes high quality, and you can tell they care about what they serve. The atmosphere is calm, modern, and very comfortable — perfect for catching up with friends, having a small meeting, or just relaxing with your laptop.

The staff is friendly. Service is quick, and the space is always clean and inviting. Might be really crowded during busy hours and weekends. It’s one of those places that feels warm and relaxing as soon as you walk in. Definitely a cafe I’ll keep coming back to and recommending to others!

I recently visited Layered, a cozy and stylish coffee shop that has quickly become a local favorite for its beautifully presented drinks and desserts. The interior is modern yet inviting, with soft lighting and comfortable seating that makes it a great spot to relax, catch up with friends, or even get some work done.

One of Layered’s standout features is their selection of fruit-based desserts. The mango and strawberry creations are vibrant, fresh, and full of flavor, while the chocolate options are rich and indulgent without being overly sweet. I especially appreciated that all of their offerings are Halal, which makes it a welcoming spot for diverse diners who want to enjoy a treat without worry.

The drinks menu pairs perfectly with their desserts, from smooth lattes to creative seasonal beverages. I tried a classic cappuccino, which was velvety and well-balanced, and it complemented the fruity desserts perfectly.

The only downside is the pricing. While everything looks and tastes high-quality, the items are noticeably expensive for the portion sizes. A single dessert or drink can feel a bit overpriced, and ordering multiple items adds up quickly. For occasional indulgence, it’s worth it, but it’s not somewhere I’d visit regularly on a budget.

Overall, Layered shines with its fresh and flavorful fruit desserts, rich chocolate offerings, Halal-friendly menu, and relaxing atmosphere. If you don’t mind paying a premium for presentation and ambiance, it’s a delightful spot to satisfy your sweet cravings.

I’ve been coming here since the first day of their soft opening and really enjoyed their desserts and drinks. It has nice aesthetics inside.

I’ve tried a variety of their desserts, but I would say my favorite is the Rocher dessert, which is like a Ferrero Rocher. The hazelnut inside isn’t too sweet and has a nice crispy crunch inside.

For drinks I would recommend the Kyoto latte and strawberry matcha. The strawberry matcha has a nice strong matcha taste and wasn’t too sweet even with the strawberry.
