This was our first time at The Abbey.
We went during lunch on a Wednesday and the place had great vibes and service.
The waiter was Cody and he was very friendly and accommodating. He brought my 2year olds food out first with appetizer after seeing we were struggling to keep him patient.
Our food was very hot and fresh.
Overall great prices, food and service.

I really wanted to give the Abbey restaurant a good score being a hometown eatery… sadly NO!! First of all…the music was soo loud we were unable to carry on a conversation with each other OR the server. The atmosphere was more bar like than that of a restaurant!! By the end of our meal I couldn’t wait to get out of there!!! For my meal I had the Reuben sandwich with fries. The Reuben sandwich was good but GREASY!! The fries were COVERED in seasoned salt!!! My husband had the Cobb Salad with grilled chicken. Although he never thought he would ever say this… it needed LESS chicken and more salad and the guacamole had no seasoning. It also needed more dressing which he could have gotten for an additional charge!! A sandwich and a salad =$40. We were disappointed with our overall experience of eating at The Abbey!!

I was the only guest when I first arrived, so no one saw me go to the wrong door and yank on it repeatedly. Plenty of parking all around in a cute little downtown, in Eastern KY. They have a nice little beer selection, so I had a seat at the bar. The Blue was cold, and the server was quick. I wasn’t expecting a bison burger, but there it was… she ensured me it had not been frozen, so I gave it a shot. I was not disappointed. I ordered it cooked to medium, and it was. The straight cut fries had just a dash of seasoning that was fitting. The place, including the bathrooms, was clean and tended to. There is a jukebox that takes cash only. This is my kind of place, on my kind of day…I feel like I didn’t tip the server as much as I should have….I tried to do quick math. I look forward to going back, I’ll do better. Based on this experience, I would definitely suggest giving them a try.

Average place. One of our meals came out with tomatoes on it (menu did not list that) and had to be remade and then came out wrong a second time (buffalo chicken wrap and they forgot the buffalo sauce ). Mistakes happen but generally the establishment makes it right either by offering a discount or comping the party that was messed up. That did not happen here. Hopefully it was just an off night. The other reviews are so positive, we expected better.

We stopped in for lunch and I thought it would be a great meal. My husband ordered the Bison burger and I ordered the BBQ burger (no bacon) and an appetizer of fried green tomatoes with ranch, which were average. She never brought plates for our appetizer. Each burger came with one side. My husband had onions straws ( which were good) and I asked the server about the pasta salad in advance and she assured me there wasn’t any bacon in it. She even stated that she asked the kitchen staff, but it Did have bacon in it and she brought it to me anyway.. After I pointed out the bacon to her, she argued with me. When I told her I’d just get a side of fried green tomatoes to go as a replacement for the pasta salad, she tried to charge me for the replacement side. (she still charged an upcharge) I wanted them to go because by the time they could get them to us we would have been finished with our meal. Very slow service and there was only one other table seated in the whole restaurant. We never received a refill on our drinks. (Tea) After all of that and it was time to pay the bill, she shorted our change and I had to go to the bar to get our correct amount back. Over all I don’t think we will be back. $15.00 for a burger and onion straws and $13.00 for my burger and pasta salad(sent back) and $8.00 for the fried green tomatoes. With little to NO customer servive. This wasn’t what we expected at all. It was very dark and very dusty. (lights and ceiling fans were very dusty) There isn’t much parking unless you walk to a lot down the alley behind the restaurant, which we didn’t mind the walk. I love supporting local restaurants, I wish our experience would have been better.

The Abbey is great. Their food is fantastic and the service is good as well. The appetizer sampler platter I think is my favorite. The prices, although not exactly cheap, are acceptable. It is a bit loud in there, but I guess that’s expected when a place is cheerful. We’ll done.

Great food! Burger cooked to perfection!! Fries were absolutely delicious!!! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a delicious burger. Go here before you try Blondies. Blondies sucks.
