Cannonball is where it’s at! Great tasting food, cozy atmosphere and lovely staff. Every dish I’ve had tasted great. Salads -bright perfectly coated dressing. Of course the biscuits. Flaky buttery crispy -perfection. The pommes aligot their version of accompanying mashed potatoes to the steak -amazing tasting. Steak -satisfying texture with a nice crisp on the outside but tender inside. Can’t wait to go back again making it my 3rd time!

Incredible dishes! We started with biscuits which were warm flaky and heavenly with perfect butter. Celery was refreshing and crunchy – highly recommend as a contrast to biscuits.

We also got calamari which were perfectly crispy, I was not the biggest fan of the sauce, but my husband liked it. For main course both the rosemary chicken and the steak were amazing!

In terms of seating we got the table on the patio which had great atmosphere except for trains passing by. I think next time I would book indoor table, but we 100% want to come as all the food was incredible.

Cannonball is a restaurant that makes me wish I lived in South Pasadena. The interior and patio are beautiful, and the dishes are delicious.

The standout dish for us was the buttermilk biscuits with whipped honey butter. it is definitely a must order and we were considering ordering a second round.

Other favorite bites were the super crispy, french fries with aïoli, and the olive oil cake which was served with crème fraîche and honey.

a new restaurant in the neighbourhood. not a big menu, ordered a salad, biscuits and steak. the biscuit stands out as it’s really flaky and buttery. overall everything was nice, feel that portion runs a little small.

The menu is limited but everything we had was great.

We started with the biscuits and shaved celery salad. The biscuits were divine and almost felt like a desert instead of an appetizer. Very flaky and the honey butter is delicious. The shaved celery with dates was fantastic as well.

For our entrees we got the trout and the steak. The portions are on the smaller side but it’s not lacking in flavor at all. I enjoyed the steak more than the trout just because it was heartier. The trout was cooked exceptionally well with the skin perfectly crisp.

I would love to try more of the smaller plates so next time I’ll go with more people.

We didn’t have a reservation but showed up right when they opened and asked to sit at the bar. This worked out perfectly, even on a Friday night!

The famous flaky buttermilk biscuits and burgers from Everson Royce Bar are now available at Cannonball in South Pasadena!! Yay!! This place is such a gem. I have dined there twice already, other than the biscuits & burgers, I also highly recommend the shrimps (so flavorful w/crispy shells that I ate them shells & all lol) and the yellowfin tuna tartare (so refreshing)! I also love the celery salad. The steak, perfectly executed, just personally wish it was ribeye (a preference nothing wrong with the dish). The clams were yummy and creative. Love the cocktail list. The thunderbird martini was perfect! Definitely will be back to try more!
Parking: valet, street meters, and a paid structure nearby
It is also just a stone throw from the South Pasadena Metro Station. I took that twice to the resto from DTLA. Perfect.
Resy reservation is highly recommended.

Cannonball is everything a restaurant should be. Welcoming, kind, thoughtful, supportive, friendly staff + incredible interiro design that is warm, stylistic, and sexy simultaneously + the food was so well done, with beautiful flavors. Everything we had was delicious! From the biscuits, to the grilled shrimp, and finishing with the chicken breast over butternut squash puree and the steak over puree’d potatoes, every bite was more special than the last. Now my favorite part, THE DRINKS. These drinks are crafted to perfection, well balanced, and incredible. I’ve had the old fashioned, and the early (gin drink) and they were perfect. I also heard the neighboring table excitedly talking about how deep their whiskey goes – as a bourbon lover, I will be diving into this next time.

Abolustely LOVED Cannonball. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. They checked up on us the right amount of times and always kept our water glasses filled despite it being a busy night. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Cocktails were perfect.

FOOD: We just got a few shareables and split everything. You can’t come here and NOT get the biscuits. The most perfect, flaky things in the world. The shrimp were our favorite. We got fries of course which were delicious. And the tuna tartare. Overall everything was perfect and we will definitely be coming back!

Dining at Cannonball was a truly great experience! Yummy mezcal cocktail. The shaved celery salad, buttermilk biscuits, chicken in a delicious sauce, steak were incredibly flavorful. Great ambience and service. South Pas needed one more good restaurant!

We were pretty excited to try Cannonball since we love Hippo and are regulars there. Unfortunately it was a miss – both food and service.

TLDR: we had a bad experience bc we waited an hour between our starters and mains, and the waiter did not check on us at all within that hour, so we needed to flag down another person to check on our food.

The good:
– buttermilk biscuits with the sweet butter. Really delicious

The bad:
– the burger and fries. The best part of this dish was the pickle! The burger was overcooked so was quite dry. Fries also did not hit.
– idk if it was an off night but after our biscuits came, it was literally an hour before receiving our mains. We took pics of our food so we have time stamps! We were trying to flag down our waiter while waiting after 50 minutes to tell him we’re just going to leave without our mains, but he was nowhere to be found. Pretty disappointing – maybe he has too many tables but it was such a poor experience.

But they did give us a free olive oil cake to celebrate our anniversary but at that point we were already pretty upset. We unfortunately won’t be back but glad we tried the biscuits.
