Doug’s Pizza sits next to a hair salon and a laundromat in a strip mall where dreams go to die. Yet, inside glory burns! The smell hits first: molten cheese, lightly scorched crust and basil. You don’t expect salvation from a place like this, but Doug’s delivers it in a cardboard box.
Doug, the working class hero behind the counter has the thousand-yard stare of a man who’s seen too much dough, too many last minute orders before closing time. He slides over the box like it’s contraband.
I open it in the car to find divine clarity. The cheese stretches like electric taffy. The chewy crust crackles. The sauce tastes like somebody’s grandmother still believes in God and tomatoes slow-cooked for hours. It’s beautiful, and profoundly American — the kind of pizza that makes you believe the universe still knows mercy.

Cozy food oasis, most flavorful subs/pizzas in town, great value/service. You want the absolute best sub in Medina? Or a classic pizza? It’s made at Doug’s Pizza, a virtual hole-in-the-wall operation in a tiny strip mall on the outskirts of town that all the locals know about. Totally ignore the corporate-run, overpriced fast food chains and other restaurants along Maple Ridge Rd. Doug delivers such awesome food value he doesn’t even need to advertise. He’s a hardworking machine with a ready smile, and the nicest guy you’ll ever find behind a food prep counter.
For a healthy and filling lunch, I highly recommend Doug’s All American sub (the whole size) featuring quality turkey, roast beef and ham. I get it with provolone cheese and ALL the side toppings plus mayo, oil & vinegar and a little salt & pepper. The generous portions spill out & you can barely close the sub sandwich! Doug’s pizzas are still among the tastiest in Medina, with a recipe going all the way back to the 1970s when this local spot first opened up as Mary’s Sub Shop. The fish fry here is also consistently good, and comes with freshly made cole slaw and awesome golden fries.

Doug makes a fantastic pizza pie ! Chicken wings delicious and BIG , no wimpy small wings here . Former Rochester native moved south and I made it a priority to come get some pizza from Doug during a visit. Check his place out !

They have great food, great prices, and they are very quick. I would definitely recommend anyone go here included as a picture of the calzone that I recently got from here.

Wrapper should say Dangerous! Attempted to finish, couldn’t stop. Small shop, big flavor.

Our pizza was burnt on the bottom and the crust was way too thin. The salads were good but our spaghetti meatballs seemed frozen to me along with the sauce. It wasn’t that good. The location is close to the beach and the service was great! The two gentlemen working were very attentive and kind. I was pleased with them just not the food I hate to say.

After my son’s basketball game, we decided to try Doug’s pizza. I called and ordered a large cheese and pepperoni pizza. We really liked the pizza. His sauce had an Italian seasoning flavor to it, which we liked. The pizza was sauced with just the right amount, and the crust was a thicker crust, which I liked because I love the thick crust pizzas. We will definitely order again the next time we are in the neighborhood. I’m looking forward to trying other food options from the menu.

I got on a sub kick about two weeks ago and I have then recently had a whole sub at all the local sub shops. Today I took a gamble and got a sub from the tine subshop – Dougs Pizza and Subs. Oh My goodness. It is the best sub I have ever had, not even close and also the cheapest one I have had during the past month – the local sub shops. I ordered the smiley spicy italian sub with extra lettuce tomatoes and onions with mayo and italian dressing. It came back toasted, that surprised me and the owner said, we toast all our subs. The sub itself was huge and heafty and the flavor was stunning. It was so good. Then what surprised me was the price $12 for the best sub in town, avantis marks, subway, jersey mikes, firehouse subs, daves subs and cusimanos all were more expensive and this one was the best by far tasting of all of them. Give Doug’s another try. wow. its good.

The pizza was not what i was expecting but very good. The dough is unique and the cheese is extra thick. Flavor wise it has vibes of a Chicago deep dish without drowning it in sauce or turning it into a casserole. While i wouldn’t say its my favorite pizza in the area i would 100% recommend trying it out and I’ll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
At about 20$ after tax for a large pepperoni that me and my wife had for dinner and lunch the next day, I’d say its a pretty good deal. As a bonus it re-heats very well the next day.

Ordered from Dougs for the first time and wish we had done it sooner!!!!! This is the best pizza we’ve had in years. Not greasy and loads of toppings, perfect crust and no waiting an hour and a half. Doug’s will be our go to from now on!
