Came here cuz I really enjoy Indian food, I’ll start off with Retro Indian Grill serves up big flavor and that’s where it ends. Came in here with my wife. Ordered up chicken Red Thai sauce and chicken Manchurian dinner plate off the menu and not from pre-made food in their warmer pans and I don’t know if the order got lost in a language barrier but the guy behind the counter was more interested in us getting food from the warmer plates and that’s exactly what we got and both plates were the same exact chicken dish and you can see by the amount of chicken you get on the dinner plate for $17 and $19 it’s disappointing, and as far as the garlic naan bread it has great flavor as well.

Rohit and Daman are passionate about Indian cooking and it truly reflects in the taste of their dishes. The place feels warm and welcoming with everything made fresh right in front of you. I especially enjoyed the pani puri where the mint water had the perfect spice kick and the tikki chole was hot with imli and date chutney that added real depth of flavor. A must visit spot in Grand Rapids for authentic freshly prepared Indian street food and genuinely kind hosts.

The food is surprisingly good. For me the medium spiciness is just a small kick. Next time will order a spicy one. The vindaloo is very tasty, however I expect the rice to be more. The staff is very nice.

Stopped in at Retro today on the way home.
First time visiting and it was a decent experience.
Pricing is good, food was very good, and they have something similar to a Chipotle serving line.

I opted for my go-to at any Indian restaurant, Biryani.
Their goat Biryani did not disappoint!
Great flavor, and they give you a ton of the yogurt sauce (Many places skimp on this, and I always run out before half the dish is done).

Overall, one of the better experiences I’ve had in GR for Indian food, definitely coming back.

This place is a whole flavorful vibe! Retro Indian Grill Indian / Chinese flavor is a hidden gem tucked away in the corner of 52nd & Division right next to a liquor store (so blink and you’ll miss it… but don’t blink, trust me). Walk in and you’re greeted with a super clean, modern setup that still gives off authentic desi charm.

Now let’s talk staff… cute AND kind?? I was mesmerized especially by one staff (Dan)member’s eyes. I don’t know if they were trying to hypnotize me or sell me a samosa, but either way, it worked.

Customer service? Impeccable. They even let me sample the curry goat before I committed and honey, that first bite was love at first spice. That curry goat had me questioning my life choices for not coming in sooner. Flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and with just the right kick. You could tell it was made with heart.

They’ve got a TON of menu choices, all with authentic flair and generous portions. Price points? Super reasonable for real Indian food that isn’t watered down. You’re getting the real deal here.

Brand new business, just opened a month ago so PLEASE support this small business! Retro Indian Grill has everything it takes to make it BIG in Kentwood if we show up for them. It’s delicious, fast, authentic, and easy to get in and out perfect for lunch, dinner, or just when your taste buds need a vacation.

So stop by, grab a plate (or three), and tell them Monica Sparks sent you!

Very delicious Indian food served here

I tried the paneer tikka masala. It’s rich and creamy with a good amount of spice, but not too hot.
The garlic naan was good too. It’s a thicker, more bready naan with lots of garlic.

Staff seemed friendly, and my order was finished 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled time.

Good size portions too.

Small group decided to check out this restaurant. Found it to be a good choice. Entire staff was friendly and patient, new to Indian cuisine. Food was fresh and hot. Not a long wait. Portion size was good. All around a good experience

Ordered the chicken fried rice and did not enjoy it personally. Waaaaaay to much peppers which make the dish much more sweet than I would like. Couldn’t take a bite without tons of peppers. Wasn’t great to me but if you like peppers and onions you’ll probably enjoy it.
