Mmm, the food was really good. Fast friendly service. There’s a picnic table on the deck you can eat at, otherwise it’s pretty much take out. You can drive up to windows then you gotta make a u turn to go out the way you came.

Very good but take out or fair weather outside dining. I had the BBQ sandwich, beans and onion ring. Very good portions will fill up a hungry person. Worth the drive whether from I-40 or Brownsville.
Liked it so much I came backs 2nd time.

Raisin Cane – A Must-Stop BBQ Gem in Brownsville, TN

As my family and I made our way from Toronto, Canada to Austin, Texas, we were on the hunt for some good barbecue, particularly beef brisket at my daughter’s request. Passing through Brownsville, Tennessee, we came across Raisin Cane—a small, local barbecue joint that was perfectly on our route.

I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant at first. With a closing time of 5:30 p.m. and our arrival set for 4:30 p.m., I worried they might be running low on food—something that happens at great barbecue spots where everything is smoked fresh daily. But that wasn’t the case at all. When we walked in, everything was hot, fresh, and ready to go.

And let me tell you—this was some of the best all-around barbecue I’ve ever had.

At many BBQ joints, there’s usually one standout dish, while the rest can be hit or miss—maybe the brisket is great, but the ribs are dry, or the sides are just average. Not here. Every single thing I ate was exceptional. From the tender brisket to the perfectly smoked pork and incredible sides, everything was done with care and precision. And the barbecue sauce? Easily one of the best I’ve ever tasted—bold, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the meat.

If you’re in the area—or even just passing through on I-40—this place is absolutely worth the short detour. Whether you’re a local looking for top-notch barbecue or a traveler in need of a memorable meal on the road, Raisin Cane is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

I got a whole slab of babyback ribs. I usually take pictures, but the ribs were so tender, flavorful, and smoked that I just ate the whole slab just now. The ribs were soooo dang good that they literally transported me to a “euphoric” state of being. The homemade sauce jumps up and hits your taste buds so deep…I was getting emotionally attached. I’ll be stopping by this lil rib shack everytime i pass through Memphis. I promise I’ll get pics next time.

Have always seen this place at the 4 way stop and have always wanted to try it. For our sons graduation luncheon we decided to do BBQ and didn’t want the same old boring BBQ joint in town. So we decided to try this place out and it was delicious. From the BBQ to the sauce to the potato salad, BBQ baked beans and Cole slaw…its what Tenessee BBQ is about. We will definitely be doing more business with Raisin Cain. Wonderful and polite staff and the food was fantastic!

I had the brisket sandwich it was pretty good, but a little fatty for my taste. I always try to trim the fat off mine. Beans were average, onion rings standard frozen version nothing to write home about. I will give them another chance to WOW me. Nice owner.

Deceptive menu prices and rude owner. I went in and ordered a chicken sandwich and fries. The state menu price was $10 approx. You pay when you order, so I was taken by surprise when my total was over $17. I asked why and the owner shouted at me “DO YOU WANT IT OR NOT!?!” I respectfully said “no thank you”. Apparently, if anyone asks, they tell you they have raised their prices due to inflation. All I wanted to know is what I was paying for because I thought they might have crossed my order up with someone else’s. Instead of helping me understand, I was shouted at like a criminal. If you like being shouted at and overcharged, this is your place. Otherwise, I’d suggest another eatery.
