Social Profile:

Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

Circa-1950 fast-food chain for counter-serve burgers, some stacked with multiple patties.

The visit actually started out fairly well. When I walked in, the restaurant was not busy at all—there were only one or two people in line—so I opted to use the self-checkout kiosk. The kiosk itself was quick and easy to navigate for the most part; however, it immediately presented an issue. It required you to select a numbered cone to match your order, but there were no cones available to choose from. Since there was no clear instruction on what to do in that situation, I selected a random number and later had to explain the issue to the associate at the front counter.
I placed a simple order: one burger, a half-and-half side of onion rings and French fries, and a milkshake. With such a small order and very few customers inside, I did not expect a long wait. Unfortunately, the wait time ended up being well over 30 minutes, which was surprising and disappointing given how quiet the restaurant was at the time.
When the food finally arrived, the order was incorrect. Instead of receiving half onion rings and half fries, I was given only onion rings. Additionally, the burger bun was extremely hard, which further detracted from the meal. At that point, the experience had become frustrating. If this location hadn’t been one of the only places open at the time, I likely would have left and gone elsewhere.
I also overheard other customers inside expressing similar complaints about long wait times and incorrect orders, which suggests this may be an ongoing issue rather than an isolated incident. That said, I do want to give credit where it is due: the associate at the front counter was very polite, professional, and genuinely tried to help. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a disconnect between what the front counter was communicating and what the kitchen was executing, which ultimately impacted the overall experience.
On a positive note, the restaurant itself was clean, including the dining area and restrooms, which is always appreciated. Cleanliness was clearly not the problem here.
Would I try this place again? Possibly—but not anytime soon. Based on this experience, I would not recommend visiting during the middle of the day when there are plenty of other dining options available. If you do decide to go, it may be best to visit during a very slow time or be prepared for potential delays and order inaccuracies. As of now, given the service issues encountered, I cannot confidently recommend this location.

First time trying the food. Overall decent. It has a Burger King taste to it but I like Burger King so…

Burger and strawberry milkshake were a 3.5 out of 5. I do like how they tell you what’s on the burger and your options to customize on the menu. Got the onion rings and they are a solid 4 out of 5 (they were just warm – not the fault of the restaurant; they were really busy so warm is good).

Service by Nick was great and he spelled my name correctly without me saying it’s a Y and not an I so I was happy

I don’t eat fast food much anymore and nothing made me go WOW but I would have again

Don’t even bother with curbside. Just slow service even when the store is empty. Ordered large fry. Didn’t even get the large fry. Matter of fact I received a half full fry! What should’ve been a 5 minute wait turned into 20 minutes with me having to go into the store to ask about it. It was literally two spicy chicken sandwiches and fries. Food drops for fresh food is maybe 5 minutes max and may I reiterate that the store was a dead at the time

This was probably my 4th and last time ordering from whataburger

Had bad food experiences at 3 different locations and obviously , 3 different food issues. Now this’ll make 4.

I wish I was able to judge your food and say it’s great but it’s not. I’ve paid $10-$12+ for combos and each order was either made wrong or missing something but this time was pretty much the last straw for me.

Don’t get me wrong staff is friendly but not worth finding hair or eye lashes in your burger. Not sure if there was more to that lash or hair but this is absolutely disgusting.

WHATABURGER, more like what a waste. At other locations I never have any type of quality issues but ordering online apparently to them means let’s make a poorly constructed burger. It’s ridiculous. Curbside takes FOREVER, and don’t even bothering upsizing your sides they won’t fill it up completely, save your money and get the small or better yet just don’t go. I rather spend time driving to the one in Grayson it’s so much better than this location, it’s not even funny. But seriously unless you like eating burgers with sauce seeping out the side and waiting almost an hour either in the drive through line or in curbside for this crap then avoid at all cost.

Rae & Victoria gave the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. This was my daughter and I first time here. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with the warmest smiles! The burger, tenders and milkshake were absolutely delicious! We will most certainly be back. Thank you Rae and Victoria for being so awesome!

The kiosk was not easy to use and another customer was struggling too. So a nice worker helped both of us out. Hallelujah! Then she delivered my food when it was done with a friendly attitude and smile. Kenia is her name and she’s why whataburger is amazing. Thanks !!!!!

We visited the Whataburger tonight around 9pm and ordered 3 meals, paid and were asked to pull up and wait for our order to be brought out. I say we waited about 10 minutes before a young lady came out and gave us our food, we thanked her and drove off, as we drove off I ironically said to my husband “they are always so nice here” I didn’t know the fate that lie ahead……we got home and my husband took a few bites and SWALLOWED his food until realizing something was off, upon flashing a light he sees that the chicken sandwich we waited 10 mins for obviously wasn’t cooking in that time because it was COMPLETELY RAW past the breading. We wrapped it up and called poison control/health department to report the issue. We drove to the store and walked inside to let them know what happened. We asked for a manager and once staff realized what happen, we were told that everything that comes out of the fryer is SUPPOSED to be temperature checked, this little birdie unfortunately was not……this birdie went from the freezer to the bun in no time. WHAT A SHAME ! This was absolutely disgusting and the worst thing that we’ve ever experienced at any restaurant, let alone one that just opened. The one star is for the Manager on staff who was a very helpful and lovely women, she took my information, gave me information, took photos, and let me know it would be handled immediately! I thank her for being so helpful but for the cook who was handing out raw bird, shame on you sir !!!! They need to put you on dish duty immediately !!!

It was a very nice experience. I believe the young lady who helped me with my order was named Mariangel (I apologize if it is not spelled correctly). She was so sweet and patient! The food came out in a normal drive through time, and it was delicious. The jalapeno ranch sauce costed a little extra, but it was worth it.

I am so stoked to find a place that still makes old fashioned chocolate malts. Not just shakes but Malts! I’ve been a regular customer especially because of the wonderful and considerate service that I receive from amazing Whataburger Ambassadors like Khristina on a regular basis! Each malt makes me feel like I’m back home in Michigan! Thank you all for your kind acts of service and you will accumulate so much good karma for serving others nourishment!
