Natives of the birthplace of Szechuan cuisine, Chengdu, Szechuan province in southwestern
China, Chef Gu, his wife, and his daughter Yvonne Gu bring a combined 90 years of culinary experience to the kitchen. Chef Gu has cooked
for a variety of celebrities, including Bill Gates,
and was often called upon “to save” struggling
Chinese restaurants.
The Gu family has created another unique dining experience on Buford Highway – Gu’s Kitchen. This is different from both Gu’s Dumplings and Gu’s Bistro. Look for a more casual setting with new Sichuan “Street Food” items, along with some favorites from Gu’s Bistro and Gu’s Dumplings.

I’ve ordered from here twice this week because I’m in town for work. First night it was really good really delicious, but there was no plastic wear in the bag and nowhere to indicate that in the ordering process. Also, this must be the only Chinese restaurant in the world that doesn’t have soy sauce.
But the worst part is they don’t answer the phone if you call him so if you order delivery, you’re just kinda at their mercy.
But the food isn’t horrible

The food is very poor quality for the price they charge. Mongolian beef was the most bland I’ve ever tasted. Hot and sour soup didn’t even taste like one. I was very disappointed because my girlfriend used to go here and she told me it was great. We were both very disappointed. We will never order from here again.

It was quiet and the food was incredible. Great place to talk to someone while you eat! We got a few dishes and shared everything, it was so good!

SUPER disappointed with the owner of this place. We ordered our food, and the server handed out our food with vague callouts like “spicy noodles”. It turns out, since they don’t take orders in person (they only have the scannable QR code), they gave the wrong food to the wrong people. They gave pork dumplings to one of us that was vegetarian, and they gave the wrong noodles to the wrong person. He took one bite before we realized that he had a different order of spicy noodles (they never called out the actual names of the dishes, just descriptions that applied to other dishes as well). We sent that bowl back because the other person in our party did not want food already eaten. We sent the food back, asking for a new bowl, which the server accepted, and she took the bowl back to the kitchen. 15 minutes later, we inquired about where the food was and it turns out that the owner refused to give a new bowl of food OR refund the cost. Again, we did not eat much of the dish, just a bite before it was sent back. A server understood our case and was pleading with the owner on our behalf, but he refused to give either. So not only do they charge much higher prices than they should for the amount of food we got, but they stole from our friend, who was left without a meal or her money back. Totally unacceptable and we will not ever come here again. The owner’s actions are a reflection of the restaurant, unfortunately, and he obviously cares more about money than his customers.

We were greeted & seated immediately with a menu & advised “ plz scan the bar code for your food”. The atmosphere was clean … cozy … & airy .. with a sense of the food being prepared in the air. General Tso, 2 egg drop soups, 6 Chicken
style dumplings were ordered …. & when ordering from a bar code menu ….. CASH IS NOT ACCEPTED.
Our food was served fast… excellent flavor …. good & tasty

Dan Dan noodles, ridiculous portion of meat to noodles. The ground beef seemed to be sprinkled on as if were garnish instead of meat & noodle dish. Disappointed in the portion sizes

We got this via Uber Eats and man was it disappointing. Fried rice seemed like boiled chicken and chili flakes and rice and the noodle dish was dry ground beef on top of a boat load of noodles, very little flavor. I’m sure it’s better in person but I can’t imagine it’s great. I was trying to be cheap bc there were buy one get one free meals but honestly should have spent more and gotten something else.

Just visited today (New Year’s Day 2026) as i was craving dumplings and read good reviews for this place. Bottom line……….disappointed. Dumplings were mediocre at best and overpriced. 2, 6 piece portions and one 12 piece portion came out to roughly $50 with a tip. And I would not mind if they were good, but they were average at best. Contents/filling (pork, chicken, etc) tasted old and stale, and the actual pasta pocket was plasticky tasting. Sauce was overly sweet and lacked any punch (vinegar / spice, etc). I’ve had dumplings all over the country, with the best ones being in NYC………..but these were disappointing. Not recommended.

Went there for dinner. Not a good experience. We hadn’t been there in a while so we decided to try it again. Big mistake. I spent about $108 including tax and tip but the only thing that was good were the dumplings. We ordered the sesame chicken and the General Tso’s chicken. Chicken fried too hard. Literally 5 broccoli stalks for each entree. Husband said egg drop soup was bland. Tasted like water with egg mixed together.Barely any staff to help those dining in. Most energy went to grabbing food from the back for online food pickup/delivery. We would’ve done better with one of the neighborhood Asian spots in the nearby shopping plaza. Definitely NOT worth $108. I’ll grab some dumplings from time to time as a to go order, but I won’t be returning for anything else.

Such a cruel, abhorrent restaurant, and the worst dining experience I’ve had. I ordered food, but the waitress gave my order to another customer, who took a bite and then returned it. After repeatedly explaining what happened, I never received a replacement. I got no food the whole time. To make matters worse, they served my friend, who is Muslim, pork dumplings after she specifically ordered vegetarian.
For over half an hour, the staff ignored us rather than resolving the issue. After all of this, the owner refused to apologize or issue a refund. As a cruel joke, they packed up the original order that had already been eaten and gave it to me to go. Completely inappropriate, unhygienic, disgusting, and so cruel! I will be reporting them.
