Sachin was our server and it was a wonderful experience. The steaks were obviously USDA We love the as we live in the US. The service was excellent. The music was great. The lighting was great. The food was great. I have a lot of allergies to things like onion, garlic, celery, and egg and they were able to avoid all of those and have a fantastic meal. I would highly recommend this and then go downstairs and win all your money back from dinner 🙂

The Staten Bar & Grill is the newest steakhouse in Colombo, located at the Cinnamon Life Hotel.
Making a reservation was seamless and promptly followed up with a confirmation text message.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and escorted to our table by the staff and the General Manager, Elrich, which immediately set a welcoming and professional tone.
As we entered, we were struck by the stunning views of Colombo from the 23rd floor of the hotel, creating an impressive first impression.
The menu caters well to both meat and seafood lovers, while also offering a few thoughtfully curated vegetarian main options.
Our starter, the ceviche, was served promptly and beautifully presented. The chef prepared the lamb chops exactly to my requested temperature, which was greatly appreciated. The prawns were fresh and succulent, and the side dishes were cooked to perfection, delivering excellent flavor throughout.
Being quite full, we opted to share a cheesecake for dessert. This proved to be a highlight, as it was made using proper, high-quality cheese, a refreshing change from what is often found elsewhere in Colombo.
Our main server, Iresha, did an excellent job attending to us. We also appreciated how other staff members proactively cleared and cleaned the table when she was assisting other guests, reflecting strong teamwork.
General Manager Elrich has clearly done an outstanding job in setting a high professional standard. The service team was attentive and courteous, and he personally checked in on us several times to ensure we were enjoying our experience.
We would certainly recommend this upscale restaurant for its quality food, elegant ambience, and exceptional service. If you are in Colombo, The Staten Bar & Grill is well worth a visit. You will not be disappointed. Bon appétit!

An excellent selection of wine and food was available, prepared exquisitely. Prices are high, but that’s to be expected for a facility of this nature.

STATEN BAR & GRILL is not just another steak restaurant… It is absolutely incomparable to the rest, with the most welcoming staff, coziest vibes… and most importantly, the best steak in the country! Ever since they have opened, I have dined there more than five times and had the best dining experience to the fullest… each and every time. I am a hotelier from LA, & am very picky with where I take my loved ones… especially the ones who are visiting from USA, because I want them to see the Crém de la Crém of Sri Lanka Paradise! My mom came to visit SL from Los Angeles after more than three years so I wanted to give her a lovely experience that she could go back home and brag to all her friends about. Bringing her to Cinnamon Life in the City of Dreams, was one of the best evenings we spent together. As soon as we made it up to the 23rd floor, we were greeted by such a warm and friendly face… Elrick, the manager of STATEN. This gentleman is not only an excellent leader for “his venue,” but he is a true leader in the hotel & the Hospitality industry because he never restricted us to only his place… But he actually showed us where we should have our pre-dinner drinks and entertainment… Which was at the vibrant GATZ Lounge… where he personally guided us to. After enjoying two rounds of cocktails and impressive life music we headed to STATEN for one of the most fulfilling meals we ever had! They have an excellent wine list… Which is great because my Mom is in Wine Clubs back home in California and is a total Wine Connoisseur! The lamb was so tender (hats off to the Chefs), and the sides were just perfect. Our server that night was Tashen, who was so sweet & wonderful! He took a lovely picture of my mom and me out on the balcony with the gorgeous view… And we ended up taking a selfie with him too! Elrick the manager didn’t fail at only making sure everything was on point but… ensuring such a great night, to “write home about!” My mom was totally captivated by the entire night and indeed went back home and told all her friends about it! Needless to say, I give my best recommendation to STATEN BAR & GRILL for anyone who is wanting a lovely dining experience for not just steak and red meat, but also seafood (they have excellent quality Scallops- my number fav starter, Barramundi & Salmon for main courses for those who do not eat red meat… oh, & chicken is also on the menu).

Had a bizarre experience here on Tuesday evening.
Booked for two for 730pm and were shown to a reasonable table. Upon ordering I was informed that the steak I wanted wasn’t available which was a basic Aussie Strip loin. They could however upsell me to a way more expensive US Strip loin.I said no and requested a tenderloin instead which I didn’t really want.
We then ordered sides and were informed that they had no truffle fries as they had a supplier problem. So they offered potato wedges instead.
What kind of restaurant can’t do truffle fries? This is a VERY expensive restaurant. Are they buying in pre made?
At this point we left and went elsewhere. We won’t be returning as it was a bit of a shambles to be honest.
As a Cinnamon Life member and a local resident it wasn’t good enough.
I suspect they were trying to upsell on the steaks and the fries situation is simply crazy for a so called top restaurant.
CL has to do better than this.

In my opinion an overhyped overpriced American style steak place. Steak comes with no sides. Pay extra if you want them and the sauce. Typical American. Not my cuppa tea!
Steak was rare when I ordered medium. Wine had to be changed because it was not Shiraz! Service though the staff was good wasn’t up to the level of restaurant!
