Sophisticakes has to be the BEST place in PA to get your cakes from!! I’ve ordered from them twice and exactly what I ask for is what I get! From the flavor, to the appearance and having my order ready at the exact time I want-hands down, they’re great at what they do!

I’d definitely be returning again in the new year. Thank you!!

On 3/4/26 I bought a slice of cake and a cup cake it was $9.00 total. I got home ate my dinner and went to have some desert and bit in the cup cake and then the cake and both was dry as hell. The cake was tight. The frosting was delicious! No one should be selling cakes that dry. I had to drink two bottles of water to lubricate my throat. No oil was put in either cakes. When baking cakes it’s suppose to be moist not dry like a Sahara desert. I’m a black American and black Americans do not eat or bake cakes with no oil in it. If oil was applied please add more oil it need to be put In the cakes moving forward. That was the worst cake I ever had.

My family has been coming to this bakery for over 15 years, and I’m very disappointed with the service I recently received. I ordered a strawberry shortcake for my boyfriend’s birthday, and unfortunately, the cake had no flavor at all.

When I called to share my concern, I was told I’d have to wait two days to hear back from the owner. When she finally called, she only explained the process of how the cake was made, saying it used a macerated strawberry filling — but the strawberries weren’t sweetened and had no taste. You can tell that there was no sugar added to this cake at all. It was awful!

I politely asked for a partial refund or store credit, but she was unpleasant and dismissive, telling me “it is what it is” and that it didn’t matter if I didn’t like the cake. After years of loyalty, I’m extremely disappointed and will not be returning to this bakery again.

They did an excellent job creating a custom baby shower sheet cake for us. We loved the design they suggested to fit our nature- themed event. The buttercream icing was delicous and the yellow cake was moist and flavorful. We had enough to serve 55 guests with leftover slices for everyone to take one home. The price was reasonable and they were prompt in returning my check-in phone calls. We were delighted to find such a good bakery just a minute away from the Drexelbrook Center where our event was held.

This is a late/very late post, but I still have the pictures so here we are. I fell in love with Sophisticakes about seven years ago. The first few cakes I had were absolutely delicious! They were moist and tasty and fresh. Whenever I’m out in Drexel Hill, which I am never in Drexel Hill, lol, I always make a point to go out of my way to get a cake from here. I sent my husband on a special mission, approximately 35 miles from where we live, to pick up a cake from this bakery to celebrate my birthday. He had to have passed approximately 50 other bakeries, including all of the top notch bakeries in Center City Philadelphia to reach this place. Later that afternoon, my family and I cut into the cake and proceeded to eat it, but it was extremely dry. Even the buttercream frosting was super hard even though it had been at room temperature for a couple of hours. I was very disappointed because I really really loved this place over the years. Unfortunately, we never called the bakery because we were flying out of town the very next day and just didn’t have the energy or the time to make the call. I may try them again this year for my birthday, but I am very skeptical. I wish I could taste test it on the premises, because I really don’t wanna waste my time and money again.

The place is very nice and clean, with good parking and awesome service. However, and I mean a HUGE, however, the product is awful! I tried the worst cupcakes I’ve ever had, and they were also the most expensive—$4.50 each! I’ve tried many cupcakes in my life, so I can say this with confidence.

The icing was overly sweet and hard, and the cupcakes themselves were incredibly dry. They were so dry that eating them would be better with a glass of milk to soak them in. This experience will definitely be my first and last visit.

I’m disappointed because I love to support local businesses, and I know everyone tries their best. Please consider changing your recipes!

You have to like pound cake to like these cakes. Not everyone does. When the cakes are fresh, they are delicious. The baptism cake I picked up right when they opened was fresh and tasty by the time we ate it that afternoon. The birthday cake I picked up at 3pm? Dry and crumbly. Their cupcakes are great when picked up first thing but dry if you grab a few after work. There must be something up with the air pressure or storage system in their bakery. But, staff is friendly and the decorations are beautifully done. We will come back as long as we pick the cake up first thing in the morning!

No matter the occasion I use Sophisticakes. My expectation is always succeeded so I thought nothing of it this time around. I ordered two cakes for my daughter’s birthday. I specifically asked for red writing and a princess and specified I needed her cupcake cake shaped in the number 2 to say #thatgirlwesley because it is her brand. The writing on the cake was purple and had no princess which matched nothing in the theme. I honestly believe a same day cake was just written on. The cake didn’t say #thatgirlwesley. I called to express my concern. I was dismissed and the mistake was put on poor communication and I was told if I was the one to pick it up I wouldn’t have had this problem. I understand you have many customers, however every customer should be treated with decency. It was very disappointing and ruined the aesthetic of the dessert table. It always taste good but if you communicate what you want it should be reflected. I will be less likely to purchase from here for my next occasion.
