Dominican flavor—here they really do justice to Dominican cuisine. Everything tastes great. I recommend it 100%. The sancocho I ordered had a good consistency and flavor, as did the chicharrón and the shredded beef (carne mechada). Everything was excellent!

Happened to be on the West Side and was looking for a meatless lunch. I saw that this place had a five star rating and thought I’d give it a try! I was not disappointed. I got rice with peas, a small salad, beans, and mangu (smashed plantains). It was my first time having Dominican food and I will say that everything was delicious. I added a cilantro sauce and a sauce labeled pique (super spicy but full of flavor) on top of the dish. This was all based on the suggestion of the very nice young man who waited on me. He also suggested a pineapple juice drink, and it was probably one of the best juice drinks I have ever had. I don’t remember the name of it, but he said the translation of it meant pineapple and pear, although it had no pear in it.
Rice and peas 5/5 super flavorful and moist
Salad 4/5 simple and good
Mangu 4/5 a touch bland however with the onions, sauce, and beans with it, so tasty also great texture
Pinto beans 5/5 some of the best I’ve had super flavorful
I’d definitely return the food was great!

It’s was ok. Nothing really stood out. Good flavors, but I guess I was expecting more. Maybe people hyped it up too much for me. It also closes kind of early because of its location. Maybe it’s a hit for other people, but it’s mid for me.

You HAVE to check out the new Dominican restaurant at Central Villa 25th! If you’re looking for an authentic taste of the Dominican Republic, this place is an absolute must-visit. As a serious foodie, I can confidently say they’ve truly captured that incredible ‘Criollo seasoning’ – it’s the distinct, rich flavor that makes Dominican food so uniquely comforting and satisfying.
I’m practically a regular, popping in once a week, and it’s been a delightful journey of discovery with every dish. So far, I’ve savored their hearty El Sancocho (Dominican soup with tender meat, chicken, and root veggies), the perfectly cooked Pollo al Horno (rotisserie chicken), and crispy, delicious fried fish. Of course, their staple rice and beans are expertly done here, and the empanadas? Perfection!
And for dessert, prepare to be delighted! I’ve indulged in conconete, the unique pineapple upside-down cake, and washed it all down with refreshing tropical fruit juices like tamarind and passion fruit. Seriously, if you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. This isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience that truly transports you. Go! You’ll thank me!
