This lil bar/restaurant is quite amazing. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was very welcoming. The staff was a lil, idk, off at times…may have been the owner….but we still felt welcome. It’s a lil bar off the bike path and the food is delicious. If you’re in or near the area, I highly suggest checking this place out.

Went for a road trip and wanted to stop somewhere new. Decided to try Nite Hawk based on the reviews. Nice little small town bar and grill. Small inside but didn’t feel cramped or overcrowded. Servers were friendly and did a great job. We split a tenderloin and onion rings. We also had a few draft beers. Our total was $25, which wasn’t bad but we did split the meal. I personally think 12$ for just the sandwich was a bit too expensive, especially since the onion rings were an additional $3.75 and the portions weren’t huge. It was a good meal but not quite worth $15.75 imo.
Beer was cold but they only had Coors Light and Busch Light on tap for domestic beers and the Coors Light ran out.
We would probably stop again sometime if we were in the area to try their pizza ♀️

Their pizza is really good, but sometimes they take it off the menu. Not really sure why, but the Nachos are a great second choice. It’s has a great atmosphere and very well organized place for food and drinks along the bike trail. Keep up the great work.

Nite Hawk was one of the highlights in a day where we roundtrip cycled from Ankeny to the High Trestle Bridge in Madrid! Located immediately off the High Trestle Trail in Slater, this place is extremely bike friendly, and a fun stop. We had decided to visit on our way to the Bridge, and about 35 miles later, we were so glad to stop here. Loved the atmosphere, the overall indoor/outdoor vibe. Enjoyed a tasty burger and fries, good pricing and great customer service. I’ll visit every time from now on!

Lovely burger and waffle fries. Great spot to catch a game. Right off the bike trail so a great summer stop. Very friendly staff all around.

This new bar and grill has a super sports atmosphere and upscale for a small town. That was impressive. They have a very good stocked bar with TVs behind it to watch the games. They didn’t seem to know importance of greeting or hosting when you first come in yet but sure their TV bar presence is focus. For some reason I expected better than normal bar food. The fries some like but too hard crispy and salty for my taste. The classic burger there is huge and smash which I like except I would like it more well drained. Toppings were very fresh and good. The wait staff was not into their job with customer service other than looking the part and minimal help. A smile or friendly conversation is good. Overall it should be great for a particular customer niche and glad to see it there.

A must if you are on the trail to the High Trestle Trail or finishing out the Gent’s race. We love the Nighthawk and the staff and owner are friendly even to the sweaty bike riders. They provide free water on all the days you need it, and the food has been great on all my visits.

This beautiful place caters to bicycle riders during the day. After a long ride I was able to sit back and drink a beer and eat a yummy cheeseburger and tots. The place was loaded with people in stretchy shorts and bike wear. Great food and service.
