How The Harvest Keeps Its Cool – Edible Boston
Reviews
The interior of the restaurant is trendy but
unassuming at the same time. The dining area has about eight tables while the outside seating has plenty more.
This place is only a few miles outside of Ashland and is worth the trip. Plus you are able to get away from the frenzied tourists. Here you can eat among the locals.
I got the skirt steak medium rare and it came out as expected and tasted just phenomenal, spot on delicious! My meal also came with golden and purple potatoes that were cooked perfectly and the presentation was splendid to the eye.
My wife got the fettuccine with vegetables and she said it was delicious. The sauce was very savory and delicious.
The only catch is that the menu changes according to the availability of the local produce and meats. That’s why they call it harvest.
I’m not from anywhere around and it’s a shame I will not be able to frequent this place, it’s delicious!
I ordered the menu’s skirt steak dish and as described, the slices came super thin, which usually means tender. Not this one. Cooked right but was fatty and hard to cut and chew throughout- the kind that would be very easy to choke on. I know, tmi. Sorry. But really unacceptable for a $24 dish (actually, unacceptable for any restaurant to serve at all) and for a place that is supposed to be serving the best. I will say that the potato feature was outstanding. Also, I was surprised that there was no vegetable on the plate. Good thing I also ordered a salad in addition. I also ordered coffee, which was warm, not hot.
The server was busy with a ton of tables, and I was hungry so ate most of the steak anyway instead of summoning her, but left two pieces to show her when she came to pick up the plate. She agreed it looked fatty and hard to eat.
When I rec’d the bill I was surprised that there wasn’t any compensation of any kind, or a acknowledgement. I’m a customer service fanatic, and this left me not wanting to go back in the future. Had something been done (maybe another potato thing boxed up to take home or 10% off maybe?) – just a gesture, I would go back.
I gave it two stars, not because I disliked it exactly, but because my overall experience was extremely disappointing. Lots of great restaurants in the valley to choose from with phenomenal food for that price.
We had been waiting for a long time with our menus, he walked up, asked if we had any questions, we said nope and as we were about to order, he said he would be back in a minute. He walked off and started doing other random things like taking tickets, bringing water to other tables.
Another 10 minutes goes by, he comes back to our table and asks us again the same thing, we say no and are ready to order, then he walks off and does it again.
I think the definitely need to hire someone to run the front that is way more experienced. He was also kind of abrupt and rude in the beginning and we almost walked out in the first place. We probably should have because the food really wasn’t worth the hassle.
Won’t ever go back there.
