I ordered a custom made loaf, 100% organic einkorn whole grain and I’m very pleased with the result. Perfectly done. Real bread. Einkorn is not the bread you are used to. But it is like health knocking at your door.

Wonderful atmosphere, mediocre to substandard food and coffee. My wife’s coffee was lukewarm. My Greek sandwich was bland, cold, and did not have the hummus on it like I asked. They said it did, but it must have been a millimeter spread, because I could neither see it or taste it. My wife’s bagel sandwich was dry and hard, bacon not crispy, cheese not melted. We can make cold sandwiches at home; we expected more for $40.

Enjoyed a lemon blueberry scone and French press coffee at this family owned, local Dewitt gem. Not just another white flour scone—maybe a nice mix of flours? Loved the selection of fresh breads to buy. Going to try the espresso chocolate sourdough bread at home. You can buy their sourdough starter as well if you decide to bake bread at home. We will be back!

Freshies is fantastic. Great family service, friendly, and super knowledgeable. The bread is actually made of quality flour instead of basic cheap white flour and so has great flavor and texture. Softest bagels I’ve ever eaten. Get the bacon cheddar bagel! 5 stars all the way. Hopefully they’re here to stay for a long time!

If you haven’t tried this bread, you have to! I have to limit my bread products but this so much more tolerable to my system because of the natural, organic ingredients. This bread is so delicious and so much healthier than anything you can get at your local supermarket. The cranberry walnut was just the perfect combo with the crunch of the walnuts and sweetness of the cranberries. The apple cinnamon tastes like a wonderful dessert. Loved the bits of crunchy apple pieces. The sourdough bread is so yummy for sandwiches and doesn’t have any of the bad stuff like added sugar.

Fresh, cozy, inviting atmosphere! The people & service is fantastic and the food is healthy, filling, and very tasty!!! Excellent Bakery! They also have a merchandise shelf with lots of fun goodies: freshly milled grain upon purchase, Freshies swag, jewelry, greeting cards, spices, and authentic art. If you’re in Dewitt, MI, be sure to check it out!

Overall bad experience.
Overhead staff in the kitchen getting heated and bickering about something while I waited. Most everything has little or underwhelming flavor. Ruined our morning breakfast trying out a new place.
My order:
One molasses cookie – I didn’t even bother finishing it, wife rated it the worst she’s had.
Sourdough baguette – oddly on the stodgy side must not have been needed enough and so the texture was strange to me as a sourdough and bread fanatic. Not the tough and chewy love that sourdough normally is.
Cinnamon roll – I honestly prefer the Pillsbury frozen brand over what they made. Theirs was very dry and very flavorless.
Sourdough herb loaf – also missing the chewiness and bounce you expect from sourdough. (Maybe using the word sourdough is a bit misleading for their bread.) Still, this was the best of what we bought. I ate this loaf and my wife passed on everything as they were “not worth the calories”.

The country sourdough is almost perfect. The only real sourdough bread in the area, made with organic flour.
The comments saying it isn´t chewy as expected from sourdough is because they don´t know anything about bread and have never tried real bread, made with real flour.
I just miss a whole grain option, and things like the buns free of canola or other seed oils.

This adorable bakery in downtown DeWitt has the best sourdough bread and the nicest staff. Our favorite is the jalapeño cheddar but everything we’ve had is fresh and delicious!

I have only experienced Freshies at the meridian farmers market and I have to say!!!! It’s by far the best bread I have ever had! The apple cinnamon bread is so good alone, but the then the girl working suggested that we make French toast with it!!!!!!! We regularly have it for our weekend breakfast. Thank you so much Freshies
