I opted for the Beef & Lobster for my main course, and the way the lobster was prepared was phenomenal- moist and flavorful but with the perfect sear. I can’t give away the secret- you have to try it for yourself! The owner, Kurt, who is also the head chef, graciously served me the most tender cut of the beef, and eating these two together was divine. My first course was a small salad that was perfectly balanced with a light raspberry homemade vinaigrette, which paired very well with the Italian dip and small selection of crackers. The final course was a Bavarian cream masterpiece with brandy-soaked strawberries on a thin piece of sponge. The brandy lent an almost floral tone to the berries, which on their own would have been a boring companion, but this completely elevated the dessert. Diane, also the owner, brought me coffee and warm smiles while I chatted away with Kurt during my meal.
This was a truly memorable experience for me and one I did not expect to find in Camden, Missouri. If only I lived closer. All this to say, if you pass up on this while you are in Missouri, then you are missing out on one of their best kept secrets.
Each of us advance ordered our dinners and chose three different entrees. Our first course was fresh green salad with raspberry vinaigrette, pecans and dried cranberries. They grow their own raspberries and used them in the vinaigrette! An amazing Italian dip (secret recipe) was also served with the salad and included toast & crackers.
I chose salmon with a house special sauce which was moist and tender and the veggie sides steamed to perfection. My daughter in law chose a seafood medley with steamed whitefish, scallops, crab cakes, and shrimp. My son chose beef medallions (fork tender) and scallops.
We were all pleased. The excellent food, our gracious server Alicia, the restaurant ambiance, the peaceful countryside view through the expanse of windows, provided a complete evening experience. They’re open limited hours and it’s definitely not in the city, but this restaurant is worth the drive. Our hopes and expectations were exceeded.
I cant belive I didn’t take more pictures of the beautiful plates.
