Food was well cooked and served freshly made. We ordered the Lava Pho supreme, navam and lava wings. All dishes were made to our liking. Pho had good amount of meat and variety. Chicken wings were glazed perfectly and well flavored. Navam dessert drink was delicious. I really enjoy their coconut milk flavor in this navam drink. Definitely recommend it. We will come back to try other dishes.

Second time dining here for lunch. Very Very slow, waiting for over 30 minutes but nothing served.
New open around the area. It tastes way better than “Best Asian restaurant” which locates in the intersection of highway 96 and Lexington Ave in my personal opinion.
Their Thai sausages are good. Pho is hot, fresh and in reasonable portion. Fried rice tastes just right, not too sweet/greasy/salty(you know those typical kind of american-asian fried rice).
It worths a try.

Been a fan even before they opened up a store front. Their steamed rolls are probably the best in the twin cities. Right consistency on the batter and enough meat for balance. Their brown sauce dishes are very good, delicious. Pad Thai, on the other hand, was disappointing. The taste could’ve been better but there was hardly any noodles. Their chicken wings was crunchy and had flavor. The rice that came with the meal was only enough for 2 bites. The place looks kind of run down, doesn’t look like they did much renovating before opening. Overall, definitely recommend the food.

Great authentic hmong/asian food. Loved their steamed roll. It tasted fresh and very good. Also had their top pho bowl for $20+. It also tasted great. The broth is right on. NO disappointing on the pho. Will go back again next time or order a big platter of their steam roll.

I got the Lava khao Poon , Lava wings and ,pork steam rolls. The noodle soup was delicious , very rich and a bit of spice to it. Wings were juicy and sauce was good, the pork dumplings were good as well but the green sauce on the side was . It’s kind of unusual but goes so well with the dumpling also a bit spicy . Will be back to try more things

I catered a large party tray of the steam rolls, egg rolls, and saikrok and it was delicious! I got lots of compliments at the party! The best thing about lava kitchens food is that it tastes good without sauce, and the sauce is truly an accessory . The customer service has always been great as well. Definitely recommend and will order again for my catering needs! Thank you!

Lava Kitchen was amazing.
You’re missing out if you haven’t tried it here.
It might seem small and have a pinch of a Chinese theme to it but the food is phenomenal. Some of the best chicken pad thai and stir fry I’ve had in a while.
The chicken pad thai was saucy, sweet and flavorful. They have a spice level of your preference.
The steam rolls hit the spot and the dipping sauce was like a peanut pepper sauce.
They added a pork belly and ground beef pad kra pao which was such a great combination.
I would come back and try other menu items.
Our food took maybe 20 minutes more to get everything considering my Fiance and I were the only ones in there. It was worth the wait. Everything tasted very fresh.

The egg rolls were crunchy but had too much cabbage for my preference. Tasted more like a Chinese egg roll. Pad Thai is sour and savory. The fried rice was a little for my liking but my partner liked it and said, “this is how friend rice is supposed to taste.” Eggroll sauce is more fish sauce and vinegar like the Vietnamese dipping sauce. I enjoyed my rice rolls with that sauce compared to the green sauce. I felt like the sesame chicken was cut too thin and over fried. Overall fast service.

I’ve been supporting this Hmong restaurant since their early days when they were just cooking out of their home, so it’s been amazing to see how far they’ve come. The food still carries that homecooked flavor, which makes it a great option when you’re craving something comforting but don’t feel like cooking yourself.
Service has always been good — friendly and welcoming, just like you’d expect from a family-run spot. That said, one thing I’ve noticed is that the Kapoon broth portions feel a bit stingy. The carry out container is never quite filled up like what you’d get at other Thai or Vietnamese places, which can be a little disappointing, especially when you’re really craving that rich, flavorful soup and meat.
Still, I’d recommend giving them a try, especially if you’re looking for something that hits close to home-style Hmong cooking. Just hoping they start being a little more generous with that Kapoon liquid along with meat.

I went there and this time they are open. Unfortunately very understaffed but their food are up to the words other stated. Their egg rolls are good and steam rolls are good. Thier peanut sauce is refined but good. Besides the long wait the food came out fresh cook and seasoned well. I recommmened. If they open more often it be my half way stop traffic food daily in between work and home. Thier ka poon is very good as well. Flavor is there. I do wish the chicken meat is minced and not just cut and put into there. I like bamboo and they got bamboo in it.
