Reviews
Inside has an eclectic decor from different parts of the globe.
If unsure about the menu, instead of stiff upper lip, ask the staff for explanation, they don’t bite.
Very friendly and efficient service, great selection of vegetarian options, wheelchair accessible and super clean toilets.
Cash only (cash is king) is the preferred transaction.
Would recommend.
Our other son had the chicken curry which also super tasty and not too spicy.
Great to finally have a Vietnamese restaurant in Southport !!
I have to admit I was a bit skeptical walking in because I’ve been disappointed so many times — restaurants claiming to be Vietnamese but really serving food that was, for all intensive purposes, no better than takeaway Chinese food. This wasn’t the case.
The food is definitely Vietnamese — though a little on the pedestrian side in terms of seasoning. But they have fish sauce and Sriracha and chili oil on the table so I understand why they’re playing it a little safe.
We started off with the spring and summer rolls. Both were fab though I wasn’t wild about the lettuce in the summer roll. They use a piece of Butterhead as an extra layer of wrapping. The problem is the sickly green of the lettuce (esp as it wilts) through the rice paper isn’t very appetizing. And the lettuce is also used to pad out the roll which isn’t the best idea.
For my main I had the pho gai which was perfectly nice. They were smart enough to use the wider rice noodles which is great.
The service was fantastic. Two very nice guys waited on us and they vaguely look like they should be in a pop band.
The only things I might fault were the prices (a little high) and the decor which is a little strange bordering on kitsch. If the restaurant was decorated a little better and had more atmosphere, it would justify the prices.
Even so, I’m a fan!
Great to have another option of food type in Southport
I believe it is very rude to refuse food to someone who walked into the restaurant at 8.02 after checking it’s open online, especially that’s 3 hours before the closing time as stated. It’s not that it was in the last hour before closing.
We genuinely loved their food, but I don’t think we can ever go there again because yesterday’s refusal was very rude when we mentioned that kindly you should change your timings online. They have updated it to 9.30 now after the call last night but they refused at 8 pm which is still too early to close up as per the time.
The staff were great, really attentive and friendly. The only thing I would say is it was weirdly quiet in the resteraunt so there wasn’t much of an atmosphere as there was only one other table with people. My family said there is alot of takeaway orders. To be honest though I prefer a quieter atmosphere so that’s subjective but could be off putting to some. Despite this I would go back in a heartbeat, thanks for a lovely evening. I really enjoyed it and my dad had a very happy birthday meal here so thank you
