I recently had the pleasure of dining at Antojitos and can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the incredible food truly spoke for the rich flavors of Peru. The Chaufa was a perfect blend of smoky wok flavor, fresh vegetables, and succulent meat. It was cooked perfectly—moist, flavorful, and seriously addictive. If you go, this dish is an absolute must-try! To finish the meal, the Tres Leches was simply divine. It was moist and sweet without being heavy, and the delicate sponge cake soaked in three milks provided the perfect, light end to a wonderful dinner. It was the perfect creamy capstone to a savory feast.
If you’re looking for high-quality Peruvian cuisine with fantastic food and incredible customer care, this is the place. We’ll definitely be back!

I won’t go so far to say this is a hidden gem, but if you want Peruvian cuisine, try their specials or order something off the menu. They also have fresh desserts and Inca Cola.

I was surprised to see theres an authentic Peruvian restaurant in Olathe so my friend and I had to come check it out. Overall the food was pretty good other than when we ordered the empanadas they were freezing cold on the inside but hot on the outside… my entree was tasty but I wish it had less rice and more of the seafood. Overall not a bad experience but there were certain things that I wish would have been better. I hope to start seeing more Latin restaurants in KC!

If you’re Peruvian then this review is for you. We were seated promptly, we read reviews before coming in because that’s what we do. According to reviews this place is good. We originally ordered ceviche de pascado, aji de gallena, jalea, and chaufa. My husband is from Lima, Peru. (I only mention this because it matters for later in the review. Keep reading.) We know what Peruvian food should taste like, of course when you eat out, it’s not going to be just like Peru, but it should be close with spices and such. The ceviche we sent back because it was not good what so ever. We ordered the Lomo Saltado to replace the ceviche. (Sorry we didn’t take a picture of the Lomo.)

Ceviche de pascado: if we could give this 0 stars we would. There was absolutely no flavor to it. Taste like complete raw fish in old lime. The fish should be a little cooked by the acid in the lime. It was completely raw without allowing it to cook. It had no flavor. It should’ve had rocoto, aji spices, salt, ginger and leche de Tigre. (If you know, you know.)

Aji de gallena: we would give this a 4.5 out of 10. It was okay, not the best, but not the worst. Rice was a tad dry.

Jalea: we would give this the highest rating at a 7.5 out of 10. It was pretty good. Fried nicely, and the fish was soft inside. Sauces that go with it were flavorful.

Chaufa: we would give this a 7, it had flavor and the rice was moist and did taste pretty close to how it should.

Lomo Saltado: we would give this a 0 star rating as well. (This plate replaced our ceviche) the meat was super dry, the rice was dry, and it lacked flavor. If you know Lomo, you know it’s suppose to be packed full of flavor and be moist meat and all. It was not that. At all. Wouldn’t recommend.

When we sent back the ceviche, the lady with the glasses (who we presume is the owner) came over to our table. Did not apologize for how the food was given to us, but then proceeded to basically argue with my husband about how ceviche tastes and that’s how it’s made. She then asked him where he was from. Which then he responded he was from Lima and knew exactly how ceviche should taste and that was not it. When we went to pay for our meal, she was there to receive payment and still went on about the ceviche. And that our ceviche was the first to ever be sent back to the kitchen after being served. To which my husband responded “I’ve been to many Peruvian restaurants and your food is terrible.” She then got quiet.

If you made it this far…
It was a very unprofessional experience, would not recommend if you’re looking for authentic Peruvian food. If there was another Peruvian restaurant in the area, we’re positive she would run hers into the ground, if there was competition. Especially with her attitude. As a business owner you should take positive criticism and try to fix where you’re messing up. Especially, from people who are equipped with the taste and know exactly how Peruvian food should taste, no matter where you are in the world. (The flavor should be there.)

Excellent choice for a Peruvian food far away Peru. We understand the flavors aren’t all we are used to but in the middle of nowhere (no offense) ingredients are very complicated to get.

Today I visited Antojitos de Peru after a long time…the food is not bad…only now the portions are smaller…the waiter’s service is excellent…the place does look a little old, small…I It reminds me of a restaurant in Latin America… I hope you think about doing something to achieve a better atmosphere in the place… the waiters sit down to see who is coming and who is going… it seems like something very Latin to me… in general a good restaurant.

Had Peruvian food for the first time and it was something new that my wife and I tried. Service was friendly and food was okay. The pasta had a strong herb or spice taste that we weren’t used to. The meat was good. We love to try out different foods and got a good recommendation on some of the food we got.

The food and the service was excellent! This was such a nice experience compared to the usual fast food restaurants. The Peruvian cuisine is just on another level, you have to give it a try you won’t regret it.

Today was my first and final time eating at this place. The wait time took about 45 minutes and there was only one table (party of 2) ahead of us not to mention there was only 2-3 full tables prior to us and they had already began eating. Our wait time was still a bit much.

The quality of the food though was not bad at all. I did enjoy the plate of the mixed seafood and rice I ordered. The biggest complaint I had was the very long dark hair that was buried at the bottom of my plate of food which turned my stomach upside down after I saw it. I told the waiter and in Spanish she said “Que mal suerte te tocó chico” basically meaning “wow you have bad luck young man” and never asked how to could correct this issue. I will not return back to this place. Wearing hairnets would be my first suggestions to the young ladies there.
