Well, love at first sight on their packaging!!! They do the business seriously here
The chicken katsu was juicy, tofu katsu was good. Chicken sando was delish. If anything to improve, they could offer hot sauce/some chili powder(togarashi). Sit outside get the view

The montebello mall in the 626 just upgraded their food court with don katsu kitchen. They have freshly fried katsu plates, seafood katsu, pork and chicken katsu sandwiches, and my favorite item their spicy pork kimchi udon.
I liked the shrimp and the entire bento that had cabbage slaw, rice, and a lemon Mac salad but I thought the fish was a little rubbery.
The sandwich is loaded with fresh slaw and a special house hot sauce that’s unique and worth trying.
Each udon noodle is perfectly coated with sweet and spicy gochujang and I loved how tender the pork and onions were. I thought having rice was overkill on carbs but honestly it was refreshing to have white rice with all the sauce (:

I had the best experience while ordering all because of how informative and friendly Bere is. She answered my questions before I even asked them and when my food was ready she called my name out loudly enough I heard it from all the way across the food court. The food was pretty delicious too. I got the spicy sandwich and it was very flavorful without being too spicy.

Katsu Chicken Sandwich has been my go to since their soft opening. Great flavor and the crisp / crunch of the chicken is perfect without it being fried into dryness. I am writing this review today for the hospitality that was provided. I dropped my entire order amidst the chaos of that food court. Without hesitation, my order was fired again and I had a new sandwich (2nd picture) in less than 5 minutes. Hospitality is something that is lost at many establishments and I never expect great service from a place at a mall but Don Katsu really delivers a quality product and tremendous hospitality. Thank you for the kindness Don Katsu. (Replacement sandwich was delicious!)

I’d put lower stars , although, I didn’t know it, I met the owner and he is of great quality. I been coming here as of late and the food is great, especially since i don’t eat meat. Today I had really poor service though. I placed two separate orders, one was the clear noodles with tofu, i think it’s the number 12, if I recollect properly, and I offered a tip on this order. I tip based on my last visit. Second order: chicken katsu by itself and the clear noodles with tofu, i said all noodle and no rice. Last couple of visits, they replaced the rice with extra noodles, I would have paid extra if need be, but the last cashier, and the cashier before her, didn’t charge me. The second order is for my mother, I’m her caregiver and I generally choose where to go eat. As I placed the second order, “Number 12, no rice, all noodle, and add tofu.” She told the cook the order and adjusted the order, all rice. I said, “No rice,” I spoke louder since i tend to have a soft voice. She took the ‘all rice’ out of the order, I stared at the cook and the cashier said, “He knows.” I paid and came back 15-20 minutes later. The second order had rice. I said, “no rice.” They dumped the rice and gave me the order back, they didn’t add extra noodles like previously. I asked them about the gaping hole on the left side of the plate. The cashier said, “Extra noodles cost more.” I just left. I found later that one order, the one I tipped on, had big tofu squares. The other had small strands. Generally, the tofu cost too much for the amount you get here, I could get a decent size box of tofu for about $5.00 at Albertsons. Great food, a bit pricey, but inconsistent portions, along with inconsistent service. Will not come back, the opportunity cost is to high now.

The food court is usually crowded. Fast and friendly service. Food was hot and fresh. Would come again. The boxes are a good portion!
Updated the new menu in a dark background. They added new bowls!

Came to try their signature sandwich and WOW. The pork was perfectly crispy without sacrificing any juiciness. They don’t use a traditional Japanese milk bread for the bun, but the bread is still soft and is even toasted on the inside. They serve the sandwich with pickled jalepeño and onion and it added the perfect amount of sweet tangy goodness to compliment the creamy slaw. The sandwich came with a free drink for a total of 14$. The sandwich is massive and could feed 2 people. I heard the manager say she prefers the chicken sandwich so I’ll be trying that next time. Love this new addition to the montebello mall!

Tucked away in the Montebello Shops is a true hidden gem that does Korean Asian fusion but with a twist.
The cross-section of their sloppy don sando goes crazyyy and actually has bits of mango. Never thought about this combo before, but hey, it works!
I’m a sucker for their GIANT bento box’s pretty packaging, and you gotta try the cheese katsu with it!
And I absolutely loooved the sweet chili shrimp bowl which is like their take on Hawaiian spicy shrimp.
Thanks for reading! ^-^

I love this place, the food is delicious and they give you so much food. I love the package the food comes in, it looks so elegant. I brought home dinner and my husband thought it was from a fancy restaurant, I’m giving this place a 5 star because the food was amazing, everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The service was wonderful, the people who work here are so nice. I didn’t get to take pictures of everything but my drink was so delicious took a picture of the menu

It’s in the mall food court. Service was awesome. I got the original katsu pork sandwich. Was so hungry I started eating one before I took a picture. I enjoyed it, but I think there could have been a better bread choice. The bread occasionally took the flavor away from the katsu. The pickled Chilies were good on the sandwich. It was not spicy at all. I think this would hit the spot in a crunch if craving katsu.
