A few weeks ago, my husband took me to Ocean for my birthday, and what was supposed to be a special night turned into one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in years. We were thrilled to come back after loving it years ago—but apparently, Ocean has gone straight downhill.
We were crammed into a tiny room upstairs where the tables were practically touching. I could hear every word of other people’s conversations, which meant that they could hear ours too. Nothing says “fine dining” like whispering so strangers don’t overhear your date night.
Our waiter set the tone right away—cold, dismissive, and clearly miserable to be there. He vanished for long stretches of time, rushed us whenever he reappeared, and never once bothered to check in. For a supposedly upscale restaurant, the service was shockingly bad.
The food wasn’t much better. The butternut squash soup tasted like baby food, while the wild boar meatloaf was the only thing remotely worth eating. The entrée options were laughably limited and overpriced. Adding chicken to our salads somehow cost $32 each—for two soggy, tasteless half-chickens that ruined the dish entirely.
We spent $200 to be ignored and underfed. No birthday dessert, no apology, no manager follow-up—just silence. Ocean, if you’re wondering why customers don’t come back, it’s because you treat them like garbage. You’ve officially lost us for good.

Every thing was excellent! Brian was our server and is outstanding. We ordered drinks, soups, dinners and dessert (to go). Every morsel is delicious! We typically sit inside or at the bar, but it is busy in season so I recommend making a reservation. We sat outside this time, and the ocean breeze was delightful. We went on a Friday so even enjoyed some music outside by Kevin which was a really nice treat. If you love excellent food, service that is impeccable, and an atmosphere where you can relax, talk, and enjoy….then this is the place for you!

Dined here last night and still fantastic food and great service. We split a salad to start and the chef went above and beyond to split it onto two plates and present it so nicely. It’s a little thing but such a nice touch. The atmosphere is upscale but relaxed, an ideal setting for a nice dinner. Friendly staff and great service. I keep being impressed at the chef’s specials and quality of the meals. Looking forward to another meal soon.

My friend and I went there for a special dinner. Did not disappoint. I had their rock fish special. Outstanding! My friend had beef tenderloin cooked to perfection. Our Server was Sandra. She gave us wonderful service. Highly recommend.

Wow! What a gem on the beach road! Fresh warm bread to start, fried green tomatoes appetizer, caesar salad, filet, and I had duck. It was amazing! We finished off with chocolate gateau and creme brulee. Lemon martini and fresh iced tea. It was all so delicious! Promptly served but not rushed and we could see the chefs from our table. Next time we’re eating at the chef table! Highly recommend! Great atmosphere! Perfect for celebrating a special event but heck we went because we’re celebrating life! Service was right on point. No complaints! You must go!

It was our first time to Outer Banks and my husband and I wanted to find a date night spot. We came across this place in particular and were impressed with their seafood dishes and boy, they did not disappoint. Our food was PHENOMENAL. We got the tuna starter, the dinner special (which was tilefish) and It all was to die for. Not to mention, the presentation was also very professional. We ended with the delicious crème brûlée for dessert. Service was EXCELLENT, our waitress was attentive and our water glasses were refilled numerous times. We will be coming back on our next trip.

The best food experience we had on the Outerbanks this week. Everything was perfect. The food, The staff, and The beautiful restaurant. We had the Chef’s Seating. It was incredible to watch these artists work.

Outstanding experience from start to finish. The lamb was cooked perfectly, the chicken was just as impressive, and every bite reflected real care in the kitchen. The greeting at the front door set the tone immediately—warm, welcoming, and professional. Most impressive of all, the chef went above and beyond to accommodate my dietary needs without compromising flavor or presentation. Ocean Boulevard delivers exceptional food and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended.

We love trying new places while on vacation. This place is a must!! The service was amazing, the meals were exquisite and beautifully presented, and the atmosphere was the most laid back island vibe we have experienced!! The staff works together like a well-oiled machine. They communicated beautifully, and even kitchen staff helped serve dished to tables. The kitchen can be viewed from the dining area, which is great! The kitchen is clean, staff is clean and professional, and the dining area was very clean. I will recommend this place to anyone visiting the Outer Banks!
From one restaurant owner to another, you all are doing amazing!! I was so impressed from the moment we walked in.

My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary here and had such an amazing experience! Knowing it was our anniversary, they seated us in a secluded room upstairs next to a window with a view of the ocean.
Because you must have martinis when at a martini bar, we started with the Sazerac and the Rye Manhattan – both were absolutely on point (spoken as a true Manhattan snob (the drink, not the city))! We then had the peppered tuna sashimi for our appetizer, with fresh bread and butter. For dinner we ordered the roasted duck with polenta and the pork chop special with beans and sausage. Both meals were exceptional – my husband said it was some of the best duck he’s ever had. With dinner, we ordered a bottle of wine from their reserve wines menu (with the help of our server, Todd). For dessert we opted for the cheesecake of the moment special (chocolate chip cheesecake) and the other special (carrot cake with homemade ice cream). The entire meal was absolutely spectacular and we cannot wait to go back! Highly recommend for anyone in the OBX looking for a quality dining experience!
