Hands down the best soup dumplings I’ve had. I genuinely think this place is better than Din Tai Fung. The XLB here are 1000 times better, way juicier, more flavorful, and the wrapper has the perfect texture. Every bite was packed with rich broth and seasoned perfectly.

And the best part, it’s about half the price. You’re getting higher quality without the premium markup.

Service was friendly, food came out hot and fresh, and the atmosphere felt authentic and welcoming. If you’re debating between here and Din Tai Fung, come here. You won’t regret it.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 – and we’re back again! Always a great place to go for XLB. We ordered Traditional Shanghai Xiao Long Bao, Spicy Wonton in Chili Oil Sauce, and House Fried Rice with Shrimp. Food was delicious without being salty. The XLB was sweeter than I remembered but still enjoyable. The spicy wontons were great and my SO used the chili oil soup for the XLB and the fried rice. The fried rice was simple but quite flavorful and they were generous with the amount of shrimp given.

Service: 5/5 – we did visit the location just before 5 so it was empty with no wait. Service was very quick still and they were at our table refilling the tea the moment we ran out.

Ambiance: 5/5 – since it was before dinner rush, the restaurant was quiet but you can hear the conversation from the kitchen.

Value for price: 5/5 – it’ is a bit more expensive than we remember but understandable considering the price increase in all the restaurants in the area.

The shengjian bao were great — crispy skin, lots of soup, and well-seasoned filling. The pork xiao long bao were also tasty with a clean, savory broth. I really liked the cold shredded tofu, which was fragrant and nicely chewy.

The Shanghai spicy noodle soup was disappointing: the broth had almost no flavor and potatoes were used instead of bamboo shoots. The soy sauce duck was also underwhelming.

Worth coming for the dumplings, but I’d skip the noodles and duck.

I ventured to Chinatown just outside the Strip of Las Vegas to satisfy my inner foodie and try the soup dumplings from Shanghai Taste. The parking lot was very busy but I managed to snag a parking spot in front of the restaurant.

I placed my name in the waiting list and waited 10 minutes until my name was called. You can watch the employees hand rolling the soup dumplings while you wait.

I ordered the following items:
1) Shanghai Scallion Pancake – $4.95
2) Traditional Shanghai Xiao Long Bai – $11.95
3) Angus Beef Xiao Long Bao – $11.95

The scallion pancake had a perfect crisp and was not too oily. It was a nice texture change from the soft soup dumplings.

I preferred the Traditional over the Angus Beef Xiao Long Bao. The Traditional was done great minus the slightly thicker skin on the dumplings. The beef had great flavor but was a slightly chewier bite.

I feel this restaurant is worth the trip to enjoy the soup dumplings!

There’s so much to say about Shanghai Taste and yet this review alone won’t do it enough justice. This is a true hidden gem in the Vegas area. Located in Vegas’ Chinatown, Shanghai Taste is pretty accessible with a large parking lot out front and with it being a short 10 min drive from the strip. The interior feels humble, ruddy showing of the chefs preparing the dumplings as you wait for your table. We arrived with a large party of 10 or so and had to wait about 10 minutes before we could be seated. They don’t have many seats so reservations are a must here.

When we were seated we ordered just about half the entire menu. We got traditional soup dumplings, fish dumplings, pan fried dumplings, two different fried rice, scallion pancakes, chicken chow mein, and wok choy. Every. Single. Thing. Was. Extraordinary. which is even crazier to think about because Shanghainese is typically not our go to type anyways. The soup dumplings in particular are among, if not, the best we’ve ever had. The chow mein was cooked perfectly with moist pieces of chicken throughout. The scallion pancakes were even fantastic for as simple of a dish as it can be. All this and you even get free hot tea to help wash some of it down. It was astonishing just how good every dish could be.

Although it’s off the strip, as Chinese food goes, this is a must stop by. The food is incredible. It isn’t going to wow you like other restaurants on the strip with a nice presentation or a breathtaking setting, but we guarantee you on taste alone this will be one of the best Chinese food places you’ve ever been to (and we’re from the Bay and NYC). If you like Chinese food, or even just food for that matter, then do yourself a favor and stop by here immediately.

Best soup dumplings ever! They have a fantastic umami flavor in the broth which makes it addicting. Of course their Xiao long bao are the best, but their scallion pancakes are the best compliment to the dumplings. They’re soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and each layer is full of flavor. I’m also a fan of their pan-fried pork dumplings, but proceed with caution as they’re extra hot!

This is located in busy Shanghai Plaza. Traffic and parking can be difficult, especially on the weekends.

My favorite was the pan fried soup dumplings. The Xiao Long Bao was also very good. Take them seriously when they tell you to be careful because the food is hot! My only knock is they don’t bring out finely slivered ginger to accompany the dumplings.

Prices are reasonable and the service was excellent.

We are here for lunch and the food was ok. It’s basically just a regular Chinese style food restaurant with a very small selection.
The dumplings were a new take on a traditional flavor and we found them to be ok.
Beside bringing our food the staff was otherwise inattentive and I had to flag down someone to ask for napkins and water. We never did get our water.
My wife and I like to order a bunch of food so we asked if we could sit at a table.
The host said yes, then still sat us at the bar.
It was neat to see the ladies making the dumplings but I would have preferred a table like was ask for so we weren’t crowded at the bar.
Not to mention every single person that came in and out was basically touching us because the walkway between the bar and the wall was very narrow.
The price point was very high compared to some of the better dim sum/ Asian restaurants we have tried. Add in the lack of service and it definitely didn’t add up.
Overall we left feeling somewhat disappointed and within about a half hour my wife and I both had upset stomach’s.
All in all, I doubt we will be back again.

The place is really small so it seems there’s always a wait, even at random times in the afternoon.

The xlb skin is a little thick and rough for my taste. And the spicy chili wonton didn’t have much flavor. Everything was a tad on the salty side.

Service, however, was the best part! Too bad I come for the food. Would not return.

This place never disappoints, dumplings are on point and the food is amazing. Service is spot on and they are on it. The only down fall is parking cause of its location, if you know you know.
