I’ve recently moved to the area and have driven past this restaurant so many times since it’s only about 5 minutes from my house, but like most people, I always end up eating farther away—never realizing that something this good was right in my own neighborhood.

This is a small, family-owned restaurant, and it really shows in both the food and the service.

This was my first time here, and I tried a little bit of everything. Every dish was delicious. All the curries were excellent. There were two soup options—tomato soup and lentil soup—and both were very good. If you’re looking for healthier dishes with milder flavors, this place has great options. The naan was freshly made, which I really appreciated.

The standout dish for me was the tandoori chicken. I’ve had Indian food in many states and at many different restaurants, and I’ve honestly never had tandoori chicken this good. Even if you’re not a fan of Indian food, it’s still worth coming here just for the grilled chicken. If you like simple food like grilled chicken and rice, you could just eat that and be completely satisfied. For a $15.99 buffet, getting rice and tandoori chicken alone is already a great deal.

The service also deserves a special mention. The server was very polite, attentive, and respectful, regularly checking in to make sure everything was okay. Because the food was so good, I called the server over to ask them to pass along my compliments to the chef. It turns out the chef is the server’s father, and he cooks everything himself. The server also mentioned that the tandoori chicken is marinated in yogurt with spices for many hours, which really explains how deeply the flavors go into the meat.

I had read some reviews saying this is the best Indian food in America, and at first I thought that might be an exaggeration. But after eating here, I agree. You can tell the chef cooks the food the way he would cook for himself and actually eats it himself. That’s why nothing is bland and nothing needs extra seasoning. Every dish is rich, well-balanced, and full of flavor.

Very friendly atmosphere. I easily spoke with management with great conversation. The food was great on the buffet on a Saturday. Slightly fewer options on the buffet but the quality more than compensated compared to others. Will visit more often.

We had a wonderful experience at Moon Indian Restaurant celebrating my husband Derek’s birthday! The food was absolutely delicious—we tried the Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Lamb Saag, and Chicken Saag, and every dish was full of flavor and perfectly prepared.

The restaurant itself was very clean and welcoming. I loved the atmosphere with soft Indian music playing in the background and décor that created the perfect dining experience.

It was the perfect spot for a birthday dinner, and we’ll definitely be back. If you’re looking for authentic Indian food in a relaxing setting, I highly recommend Moon Indian Restaurant!

Staff was nice and welcoming. I tried the buffet. It was okay. I guess I like Southern Indian food more.

Recently had the chance to try out Moon India while visiting Eagle Creek Park on a weekend. The restaurant is clean and spacious with a beautiful blend of Indian cultural elements that create a warm, inviting atmosphere. We were greeted with friendly smiles, and the entire vibe felt very welcoming.
We arrived around 4:30 PM and decided to enjoy a mango lassi and samosa chaat while waiting for our carry-out order. The samosa chaat was packed with flavor the samosas were perfectly crispy, and the chickpeas added a great texture and depth. The mango lassi was smooth, refreshing, and perfectly sweet.

For our takeout, we ordered the chicken makhani and naan. Even after having it nearly two hours later, everything still tasted fantastic. The quality and flavor held up well, which says a lot about the food.
Would definitely recommend Moon India if you’re in the area whether you’re dining in or taking something to go.
Also learnt that It is a new management there. So please disregard older reviews.

I have been going to moon India since its opening fall of last year. THIS PLACE IS THE BEST!! you can definitely tell that it is a homey, family run joint with employees who really care and take pride in their work. I went to high school down the street and would come a few times a month for lunch. The main server now knows me and my family by name. Everyone who works here is genuinely so kind and sweet. Anytime I have a celebration, I take my family and friends here. The food is phenomenal with lots of flavor and customizable spice levels so everyone can enjoy. My personal favorites are the garlic naan, chicken and paneer pakora, butter chicken, chicken tandoori, lamb curry, and chicken saag. Additionally, their all you can eat lunch buffet for 15.99 might be the best lunch deal in northern indy. Will forever recommend this place to everyone I know!!

PS… most of the bad reviews are for the Indian restaurant that was in this same location before Moon India opened just fyi.

A lot of new Indian restaurants have popped up recently on the Northside and dare I say this is the best? If not, it’s close. Attentive and friendly service and the food was delicious. The tandoori chicken is good not great but everything else was phenomenal. It’s definitely not as spicy as other places which I prefer but some will find that as a negative. Overall, very good.

What a delicious place to warm up on a cold night, we just moved from Arizona to Indianapolis; and have been wanting to try some Indian food places. The service, the ambience, the food is impeccable. We are scared to try any other Indian cuisine in the Indianapolis area!

One the best Indian buffets I’ve been to anywhere, and best value as well! Lots of fresh choices both veg and non-veg, including starters, salads and wide range of curries. Restaurant is clean, modern and comfortable. Staff couldn’t be nicer. We went twice in three days and it was perfect both times. If I lived closer I’d be here all the time!

Moon inhabits the space that formerly was inhabited by Amara, a restaurant of the Aroma experience group. There is indoor seating available, and we had gotten takeout. In need of a hot curry that would provide some comfort. I typically like to get malai kofta, a curry that is traditional Punjabi and not commonly made at home. My wife ordered the vegetable jafrezi, vegan. Much of the vegetarian options do have cream, but they can cook without dairy. The curries were the best I’ve had a while in my time ordering Indian food here in Indy. If on the Northside, please consider trying this place. I think the food was pretty good.
