What a great spot! I’m so glad I stopped in for a quick lunch today. I tried one of their specials; lemon pepper chicken with brown rice and some grilled veggies. The flavor was on point, the chicken was very tender, and portions were generous (wish I had taken a photo!). The service was fantastic as well – I felt very welcome and the guy even brought over a sample Cajun beans & twice for me to try, which I also very much enjoyed. I highly recommend checking this spot out.

D@m Delicious. Flavor for the pulled pork 9/10, love the serving size for the meal. Really cute in a novelty kind of way on the inside, lots of baseball photos and sports photos.
My only thing- next time ill order more Cole slaw, because I ate all of mine to quickly. It was so yummy. I wish it was a tad more tart, but that’s my tongue preference. To each their own. 🙂

Stopped here for the first time and got the sizzlin steak special, food was delicious and will definitely stop by again. The chef (Francisco) that was working was very nice and friendly, great dude and great service. Highly recommend this place!

Drove by and stopped in on a whim with the kids. So glad I did! Incredible food, the kids loved it, reasonable prices, and after looking after my kids all day without my wife (away on a trip), I was so glad for the kava and CBD drinks. He has the most incredible sports memorabilia and makes all his own rubs, sauces, and CBD products. Will def be back

I have now been to Big Daddy’s Badass Bento twice.
Walking in, I expected Big Daddy’s Badass Bento to be Japanese food, or perhaps Hawaiian. It is not. The menu is diverse, with a few options on offer, but none of it is bento.
The sports memorabilia theming was unexpected, as was the head shop in the back. They set the tone for food that has been equally uneasy.

The first time I came I ordered the loco moco. While I waited, I drank an unbranded Ducks themed energy drink which is the most foul thing I have ever put in my body. That’s not super relevant, but it has to be shared with someone. The beef and rice were both well cooked, and the portion was generous. The gravy was excellent, but the beef had an odd sour taste to it that I didn’t care for. I kept eating hoping I was imagining it, but it wouldn’t go away and I ended up throwing away half the meal.

I decided to give it another shot, and the second time I came I ordered the island chicken. Once again the portion was generous, and the chicken was juicy and had a nice char on it. The teriyaki sauce was teriyaki sauce, I don’t know what you want me to say. Off to the side there was what appeared at first glance to be macaroni salad, but was in fact mashed pineapple. It was cold and odd.

Both times I’ve been, the service has been great. My questions have been answered and the food has arrived quickly and without issue.

Overall, Big Daddy’s Badass Bento feels like stepping into a different world. A world where signed jerseys line CBD laden halls, and cold pineapple is paired with hot chicken. A new reality of unease, discord, and okay food. 3.5 stars.

First-the food. Oh my goodness. The pineapple salsa on the Hawaiian food was outta this world. The brown rice was light, moist, and fluffy. The chicken fell apart when it saw my fork heading towards it, didn’t even wait to get pierced by the sharp tines.

Second – service. Welcome to my home, how may I assist you, how can I make your meal more pleasant, would your child like a cookie?

Environment – was surprised and happy to have indoor seating available and as an added bonus every inch of the walls are covered with eye candy, well, that’s if you like sports.

What more can you ask for; winning ambience and a great meal make the perfect combination.

There was another “room” with other “stuff” and it was off limits to kids, appropriately. I wouldn’t have noticed it if I wasn’t cautioned.

The service was fast and the chef was very nice! I had the Loco Moco Bento and my partner had the Lemon Pepper Chicken Bento, we both would recommend it!
These Bentos are also affordable!

I pass this place almost every day, and I’ve been really curious to try it since it opened. I finally gave in to temptation, and I was not disappointed. I had tried a bite of a friend’s Italian beef previously, and I loved it. However, they were out of the dish by the time I traipsed in.

I decided to try the Carolina pork as a plan B. I don’t usually get barbecue-style dishes from non-barbecue restaurants, but boy, was this a lucky gamble: the pork was tender and had that lovely tangy Carolina sauce and slaw with it. Absolutely recommended!

Big Daddy’s is a really unique, eclectic spot. A restaurant, CBD store, and glass shop is a combination that is the epitome of a Portland small business. I absolutely love it!

I’ve seen this little place on 22nd and Powell and decided to stop in there today. The person working told me what their best sellers were and was very polite. I chose the Carolina pulled pork. The meat was fresh and tender, and the sauce was amazing. I will definitely be stopping in again.
