Absolutely amazing food. I ordered the Sultani Afghan kebab with tender lamb on skewers, and it melted in my mouth. The rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked. Above all, the hospitality was exceptional — I was even treated to a complimentary bowl of yellow lentil soup.
Every time I go to Roanoke, I make it a point to visit. You can always count on being served fresh, home-cooked food made the same day.

This is truly my favorite place to eat in the world. We live about 2 1/2 hours away and always stop here when traveling. We occasionally make the drive just to eat here. The food is amazing and the owners are so sweet. The Hummus is the best I have ever had. If you have never tried it you are missing an amazing meal!

Amazing food the staff is extremely friendly and they have three separate buildings all in the same parking lot if you like Mediterranean food I would highly recommend you try them out. They have an amazing grocery store as well and food to go that is prepared and ready.

Everything was very well done and delicious! The lamb shank with rice, raisins, and carrots was one of the best and most tender bites of lamb I’ve had. The samosas had excellent flavor and the chicken kababs were also tasty! The grocery part has an excellent selection for such a small space. If I lived in Roanoke I’d probably try to eat the menu!
The only suggestion is some signage about where you should go for dining in only for people that are new or what the order of operations are. We went into the store part, ordered food and paid for the grocery items there but we were sat in the next building over for dining which did not seem to have someone dedicated to that space.

Bethlehem is wonderful!! I have now enjoyed multiple fabulous meals here. There are lots of delicious vegan and dairy-free options (or easy possible modifications), which can be hard to find in Roanoke, and much more on the menu that is vegetarian friendly, plus delicious looking meat-based dishes. The people are always very welcoming and kind, and the food is so very tasty. Portions are hearty and prices are very reasonable, too, especially considering the high quality. I also enjoy perusing the grocery section while food is being prepared and have found lots of items I haven’t seen elsewhere in Roanoke. Particularly good selection of spices, dried fruits, nuts, preserves, teas, and more. The good people at Bethlehem consistently serve exceptional food with care! Thank you!

Bethlehem Restaurant and Grocery Store is a hidden gem in Roanoke. The Afghan food here is incredible—authentic, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The mantu (dumplings) and kabuli pulao (rice with lamb, carrots, and raisins) were standouts, bursting with rich spices and perfectly cooked.
The staff is warm and welcoming, happy to explain the menu if you’re new to Afghan cuisine. Plus, the attached grocery store has a great selection of Middle Eastern and Central Asian ingredients.

We visited this Afghan store today and had a great experience. The prices were excellent and very reasonable, and there was a good variety of products. We also ate at their restaurant, and the food was delicious, fresh, and very authentic.
The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, especially Mr. Qudrat and Mr. Sohrab. They were very helpful, respectful, and truly customer-oriented.

Authentic Afghani food. Mild but flavorful.
The customer service is top notch. They have 2 seating areas, spacious parking, a grocery store, and a garmet store all in one place. They take their food very seriously and that is why they have customers from all over the areas .

The food was amazing and authentic. The hospitality made us feel like we were guests in someone’s home. As someone who travels to South Asia frequently, I appreciated the atmosphere of the restaurant dining area. It was more like an Asian restaurant than American. And that added to the authenticity.
