Kinda meh.

I’ve been in the bar bit before for drinks and that’s really nice. The restaurant just wasn’t worth it.

They mis-sized the portions. Starters (crab and pigeon) were tiny (I’m talking canapés size)
The main, duck, was too big really. ESP given the tiny starters.

Was very odd.

Ambiance was lacking. They need more furniture in the restaurant. It just had chairs and tables and felt like a NHS cafe.

Service, the chap was very sweet, but took ages with the wine, didn’t time it well with the mains and couldn’t be found to order additional glasses.

The wine was very good, but £38-44/glass defo seemed toppy.

Overall £200 a head was not worth it.

We were blown out of the water with how amazing the dinner is. I’m very surprised they don’t have a Michelin star. It was so good we went twice and each time we were just as amazed. From the amuse bouche to the turmeric bread with smoked butter, to the starter, main dish, to the amazing dessert. Everything was delicious and wows not just your taste buds but also your eyes. I absolutely loved the quail starter, the turbot main entree was so beautiful and tasty and the second night the lamb was out of this world, the souflee was absolutely incredible, and the chocolate passion fruit dessert was invigorating. The turmeric and caraway seed bread is something I constantly talk about. I’ve never had such a delicious bread. The smoke butter was on a whole other level. Highly recommend.

Very disappointing. No reservation despite phoning and having long discussion with hotel day before about choice between Pantry and Restaurant.. and confirming details back to me. Food good but service utterly dreadful .. no sense of care or attention throughout. Sometime fine dining restaurants can be a little over attentive (filling water every moment you take a sip) – but this was a complete opposite! Waited 20 minutes for glass of wine and pattern continued whole evening. Very very mediocre.

The food was fine. Service overall was very disappointing given the price and reputation, the individual waitress was lovely but the booking process and overall experience was not acceptable for the price.
