Can I give six stars overall? The Jefferson is located in one of the oldest operating inns in New Hampshire. This makes for a very comfortable, cozy and warm atmosphere. Owners, Tyler and Sara are very friendly, helpful, and engaged. They really take care of their customers, and the food is to die for! A true hidden gem.
This has been a favorite destination since they opened last summer. The food is consistently excellent. Creative and traditional breakfast and lunch options. I’ve tried most, and all are wonderful, making choosing what to order the next time difficult. Part of me wants to keep it a secret.
Almost forgot the yummy home baked goodies. Chocolate chip and spice cookies, muffins, breads. All wonderful.

Enjoyed a fantastic breakfast that was both delicious and reasonably priced. The homemade biscuit with brown butter and jam is out of this world! The coffee was great too. We will definitely be back, as this place is a step above any other breakfast spots in the local area.

I am not a huge breakfast brunch foodie – but on a social call I found myself here. I was taken with the friendly service – we went up to order and she said “my kitchen is very backed up, enjoy coffee and I will let you know when it’s time to order.” Communication – novel idea!! Turns out, it wasn’t long! We got the biscuits and berries and the breakfast plate. Great, well made, not greasy, simple great food with a brioche that was toasted to perfection. I felt great when I left, money well spent, not heavy or on a sugar high. All around great, great experience.

What a great local breakfast spot. Our family has been there several times and enjoyed a variety of great breakfasts and even enjoyed take out on a very busy morning. We’ve enjoyed fresh baked pastries, fresh coffee (hot and cold) and traditional breakfast dishes. It was a great meet-up spot for 3 generations to enjoy a meal together locally. The owners are extremely friendly and attentive to guests. We will definitely return!

The Jefferson has brought a perfect blend of comfort breakfast and lunch you’d expect in a small town cafe, but has elevated everything to rival any cafe in the bigger cities!
The steak tip special with the guiness and mustard marinade (the locals are clamoring for it to become a permanent menu item), the handmade biscuits, even the good ole’ breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes will leave you raving, with the elevation of brioche toast, thick cut bacon, and the melt in your mouth magic potatoes sauteed in lard. Oh, and my favorite lunch is the turkey sandwich with the amazing aoli that is perfectly complimented by the tomato onion jam.
Don’t get me started on the treat case that has the most delicious baked goods in or out of the seacoast! I don’t know how Sara gets the consistency of each pastry just perfect, and her recipe balance never lets the sweet overpower the flavor. French toast cookies, cream cheese pumpkin muffins, and the variety of cobbler bar flavors matching the season are some of my favorites.
If your local, pop in, if you aren’t, it’s worth the drive! (And if you are from real far away, you could make a little getaway by staying in the Independence Inn, where the Jefferson is housed). Sara and Tyler love food and it shows. They are so friendly and have created a commity you will want to be part of!

Literally drove here from Boston and so glad I did. Such a cute place with the nicest people and I’m still thinking about the amazing muffin I ate days later

While staying at the Independence Inn, we were treated with some of the best breakfast only a few steps away.
This breakfast/lunch combo can’t be missed even if you aren’t staying at the Inn, it’s really worth the short drive.
Plenty of options and I can’t stress how you can’t go wrong with anything you order, it’s all very delicious. Try the berry compote on anything you can, it’s just the right amount of sweet and fruity.
