Hadn’t been in a while, but went recently for a birthday dinner – SOOO good and an excellent value! Eggplant fries and steak tips as delicious as ever, and new (to us) steak frites was perfectly grilled, just as ordered, larger than in photo, and as good or better than the smaller version we had for $20 more at a premier steakhouse. Winter Paloma cocktail was wonderful – strong, but not too, and perfectly balanced and refreshing. Best is the hospitality of the servers, owners and the whole team – they sincerely want you to enjoy your evening out and are so welcoming and kind. We’re not eating out as much b/c it’s become so cost-prohibitive, but glad to have re-discovered an old favorite is even better than ever and worth every dollar. A true treat!

Great hole in the wall stop at a Irish Pub/Diner. We stopped here for a late afternoon lunch. Parking is tight…luckily we found a stall right in front of the restaurant on the street. Service was excellent. Our server was quick with waters, menus, beers, etc. He did a great job tending to our table of 5. Food was really…really…really good. Probably the best meatloaf I’ve ever had! The meatloaf was moist and had tons of flavor. This hideaway in Newton, MA is a great place for some cold beer and excellent food!

Neighborhood Irish pub with good food and exceptional service. Nicely decorated with lots of handcrafted wood, historic photos, and a bit of café lighting. I’d definitely return, but during the week as weekends were too busy together a table on the first visit. There is free parking but it’s not plentiful.

Food was okay. I got the lamb salad. The salad was good but the lamb was very chewy. My husband got the Shepard’s pie that tasted like meatloaf. Don’t get the cranberry, apple cider, prosecco drink. It was so gross and will make you sick. Good beers on tap. Overall I wouldn’t visit again.

Awsome hospitality and good food/beer. Went with my friends on last week (Jan 31st) and we really loved this place. Special mention to Yvonne’s service who treated us very friendly and timely attention to the customers. Highly recommend!

Atmosphere and staff both are top notch. I don’t believe they have Blue Moon, which is my go to, but they have a most satisfying Belgian style wheat beer on tap that I rather enjoyed. Steak tips were pretty good, I had them medium rare with just salt and pepper instead of opting for a sauce they offer with them. The order came out with broccoli instead of my requested side of asparagus…no biggie, but a good manager (like the one on premise here) always asks a customer if everything is alright… so I mentioned the asparagus fail and he corrected it promptly. That last part was a breath of fresh air…thanks Dunn-Gaherin’s!

Fantastic neighborhood favorite. Cozy and welcoming. The staff was very helpful and friendly; Peter and Mara behind the bar helped me pick a fantastic local-favorite dinner dish, the steak tips (which did come out medium rare as ordered) with both Cajun spice and peanut satay sauces on the side – both awesome. Had the garlic mashed potatoes and eggplant fries (!) which were great. Never seen eggplant fries before, but as a first-time customer they automagically gave me a sampler(!), and they were great. Noticed locals walking in and addressing the bartenders by name – points! Talked to these locals and realized this is a neighborhood gem. Great beer selection with enough local beers that my California beer-snob glass never got out of New England. Bread pudding for dessert was sublime. Do this. Great place. Go, eat, drink, enjoy.

This Fall Outdoor Dining Hidden Gem is too good to gatekeep.
With their great aesthetic, the best Pub Grub menu favorites and yes even an outdoor Ice Cream Cart.
Dunn Gaherin’s in Newton is a must visit.
Their inside is beautiful as well, and perfect for a pint.
