When we first got here, we knew we were going to have a good time. The decorations and atmosphere in the restaurant makes you feel as if you are in an authentic Tex-Mex eatery. The chips and salsa came out quickly, and it was freshly made, as usual. Nice and hot chips with a warm taste makes the eater feel as if they are in the home of a family member. The menu has a lot of selections for a very low price. Unlike a lot of other places in the area, the restaurant has Chimichangas, deep fried burritos. The portions are very large and the presentation is beautiful. The staff are very hospitable and friendly. The chef is very talented and very friendly. Yes, you heard me. The chef comes and talks to the eaters when he has nothing to do. He has a lot to talk about, and is open to your thoughts and feelings. Most people who eat in Pearl River eat at a Pub, but this place is where the authentic stuff is. After our first visit, we came three more times. We even showed this place to our friends. Each time we came, our expectations were exceeded. I had an overwhelmingly positive experience at La Cocina. 101/10

Great spot with great parking lot in the usually tough to find parking area of pearl river. Lynn the bartender is great. Food is fast and hot. House made chips and salsa never stops and is delicious. Great location with a great vibe if you like mexican check it out I’m glad I did. Nice bathrooms too!

The food at this place is absolutely terrible. I got the grande steak burrito and my wife had the steak fajitas. Whatever meat they are using, it’s not steak. Tastes like cheap beef from God knows where. Beans taste like they are right out of a Goya can.
If you’re in the mood for Mexican, then this is not the place where you should order from. I don’t typically write bad reviews since I’ve been in the restaurant business for years and I know the effects it can have on a business. But when food is that bad, someone has to say something.

Decent Mexican joint for downtown Pearl River. Nice atmosphere, pleasant staff of high school aged kids. Fairly limited menu. Prices are a bit high. The food was good, but not great. All in all, meh.

We ordered food from this restaurant wednesday June 10. The food arrived very cold. We were missing the appetizer. We asked for peppers on the side and got extra mixed in. We called the restaurant and driver repeatedly.
The driver said he received a closed and sealed bag. We received a closed and sealed bag.
The woman at the restaurant said they did not make an error, were not busy so wouldn’t have overlooked the order and finally waivered between accusing us of making it up and saying the driver stole the food. She then accused us of trying to take advantage of the restaurant and refused to issue a credit. Most places want customers to be pleased but I felt based upon her words, tone and raised voice that she was totally disinterested. I asked her if she really thought we were trying to take advantage of them for an appetizer costing $9-10.00. She was very unpleasant and yelled that they weren’t wrong, we were as we received the appetizer. We simply did not and wouldn’t have called otherwise. Forget Original La Cocina.

Went this cinco de mayo after reading good reviews. Don’t know how this place got such good reviews. Service was poor. The plates we ordered were not only overpriced but came with rice that was overcooked and bland. Black beans had no flavor. Steak burrito had an overload of huge jalapeno pieces. The green pork enchilda had no taste. Kid’s mac and cheese was penne with greasy cheese. The food was boring and had no authentic taste. And then one of the waitresses at the other table was drinking beer and other alcohol from the table she was taking care of. She obviously new the guests but she was definitely a little drunk. Our frozen Margaritas tasted watery and were bought out with salt when we asked for no salt. Never eating here again.

We had veg chimichanga and toastada. Chimichanga was really good. Toastada was ok. We asked for it to be spicy but it wasn’t. The worst part was the salsa. It was some cheap stuff out of some pre packaged thing. Wish they had freshly prepared salsa.
